Slowly destroy the midday movie so they can later axe it due to low ratings. Very sad.

Who cares about those movies anyway? Low-rate junk that probably wouldn’t do much to ratings even when axed.

A shame they are getting rid of the Midday Movies. Very sad.

Are the Midday Movies slots being replaced by reality repeats (aka “encores”)?

Is Seven getting ready to have a talk-show with advertorials at midday? And have 5am-3pm slots with news/talk-shows? Cheap!

The movies are replaced with encores of MKR; so it looks more like trying to build the audience for their prime time reality show and possibly make up to MKR advertisers.

Don’t know how well that strategy works when they effectively encore the whole series.

I’d suggest they use it as a cheap way to boost their local content hours.

Why are you so invested in the midday movie? Do you actually watch them?

Personally, I’ve been thinking that if Seven seriously want to dump the midday movie they should instead extend TMS all the way to 12pm midday, have a one hour national ‘midday news’ bulletin and then have TDE follow it for 2 hours from 1-3pm if Seven really want straight news/fluff shows from 5am in the morning to 3pm in the afternoon on the main channel.

I think it would be advantageous for Seven to do this so if a big news event occurred that would require rolling news coverage, they would easily be able to do it since news shows would go for most of the day anyway.

I’m standing by now for all the criticism of this idea…

Occasionally if I’m home.

Surely there has to be a limit to more infomercial news/talk shows.

Should put classic Simpsons in that spot. Would do 1 million for sure.

I’m no fan of clogging up more hours of airtime with infomercials and such, but the midday movie is not a protected species and has never been a significant performer in terms of ratings. They probably get more viewers with encores of reality shows in that timeslot.

Non AFL states deserve better than this. Seven surely can’t be surprised they constantly lose in NRL markets with alternative offerings like this repeat trash in an official ratings period.

Do we know when MKR will resume after Easter, or if not announced when it’s likely to from past years?

I reckon MKR will resume on April 17, after the Commonwealth Games closing ceremony. The period after Easter will be reserved for the remaining episodes of Australian Spartan season 1, plus the confirmed 90-minute episode of Home and Away on Tuesday April 3.

Other market differences will be posted Monday.

That’s one day short of four weeks since the previous episode (on Wed this coming week if it’s not at all in the following week). That’s a long time. I thought they might keep it going during the Comm. Games, like they did for the Olympics.

Seven would be stupid if they kept MKR going during the Commonwealth Games that are being hosted here in our home country!! I think only Sunrise and the 6PM news would still be shown during the 11 days of competition, otherwise the rest of the time in the day and at night in primetime will be reserved for Commonwealth Games coverage and so it should be. MKR can wait until afterwards. It is only 11 days and the Winter Olympics were longer than this, 16 days, plus the Winter Olympics are nowhere near as popular as the Summer Olympics/Commonwealth Games in Australia.

Only 11 days plus the Easter break, which makes it 27 days between episodes. I’m not saying they should show it, just wondering if they are willing to wear a break of that length.

Well it’s probably for the better. We know that Seven usually struggle after MKR & House Rules ends so by keeping them finish later this year due to the Commonwealth Games may not be a bad idea if it’s likely to give them more success for the rest of the year hopefully.
