If Nine can show the Oscars live in all states why can’t Seven do the same with the Grammys? There will be lots of online spoilers. Seven should give the rights to Foxtel.

I guess Seven changed their minds about showing Grey’s Anatomy on 7Flix.

Looks like Seven will show double episodes of The Good Doctor for the next two weeks until we are up to date with the US. Episode 14 will air in America on February 5.

Pretty weak schedule Im on my opinion. Seven will be putting all their hopes on the Good doctor rating like it did last year.

It’s because there is only a 12-day gap between the end of Australian Open and the opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games from Pyeongchang. Seven is holding off shows like Australian Spartan until after the Olympics.

Um, why should Seven give the rights they purchased to another broadcaster? Such a suggestion is nonsensical…

7 eps of H and A is a bit too much.

Because Seven is unwilling to show the awards live outside NSW and VIC, without interrupting its morning schedule. Unlike the NFL Super Bowl the following week.

The superbowl has an audience. Nobody gives two shits about the Grammy Awards.

Will be interesting to see if this even rates in Melbourne, let alone Adelaide or Perth (or other markets) this year.

Launched with an incredible 400k in Melbourne, then sunk to 100k mark last year.

Main channel treatment is big, given ratings survey. But it is live sport and still has an audience, that or movie re-runs I suppose.

THE RESIDENT

Hot US drama to premiere after the Winter Olympics on Seven.

Seven today announced it has acquired the rights to broadcast the latest drama to capture American audiences.

Premiering after the Winter Games, THE RESIDENT is a powerful new medical show focusing on a young doctor’s final years of training that rips back the curtain to reveal the truth of what really happens, both good and bad, in hospitals across the country.

The series stars Emily VanCamp (Revenge), Matt Czuchry (The Good Wife), Manish Dayal (Halt and Catch Fire), Moran Atias (24: Legacy), Merrin Dungey (Big Little Lies), Shaunette Renée Wilson (Billions), Melina Kanakaredes (CSI: NY, Providence) and Bruce Greenwood (The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, Mad Men).

In the US, THE RESIDENT was one of the season’s most hotly anticipated dramas garnering rave reviews ahead of its launch. TV Guide declared: ‘If you’re looking for a new medical drama to get obsessed with in 2018, we humbly put forward The Resident for your consideration.’

Entertainment Weekly said: ‘The Resident cleverly digs into the pleasant TV myth of the crusading doctors who care and uncovers an industry built on paranoia, malpractice, the almighty dollar.’ Forbes called it ‘wholly unique…with slick writing, flashy direction’ while TV Line said it was ‘genuinely gripping.’

It premiered last Sunday night in the US attracting close to 9 million viewers, making it one of the season’s top-rated drama debuts.

Seven’s Director of Programming, Angus Ross, said: “The Resident is one of the most talked about shows from the LA screenings and we are thrilled to have secured this hotly anticipated medical drama.”
THE RESIDENT is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. The series’ executive producers include Todd Harthan (Rosewood), Amy Holden Jones (Mystic Pizza, Indecent Proposal), Rob Corn (Grey’s Anatomy), Antoine Fuqua (Southpaw, Training Day), David Boorstein (Level 26: Dark Revelations), Oly Obst (The Mick, Ghosted) and Australia’s own Phillip Noyce (Patriot Games, The Bone Collector), who also directed the pilot.

A bit too simlar to The Good Doctor?

Seems like medical drama overload with Grey’s Anatomy also in their line up.

It is the first new show from 20th Century Fox to air on Australian TV since the company terminated its supply deal with Ten last year. Seems like Seven (and to some degree Nine) may pick and choose shows from Fox in lieu of a long term output agreement.

Yes, but as the rightsholder - Seven has the discretion to show the Grammys however they wish. You, me or anyone else may not like how they show it but such the ability comes with the ‘privilege’ of purchasing rights.

Your last point is a good segway to note that the vast majority of Seven’s AFLW matches will air on 7mate this season instead of the main channel - part of that is obviously due to the Winter Olympics but even after it’s done, only one match (Western Bulldogs v GWS Giants on March 10th) will air on the main channel in Melbourne and Adelaide

Are we gonna see Brand New The Goldbergs and How to get away with Murder after the Olympics as well???

At 9:00 PM on Wednesday, there will now instead be a special 7 News Investigation focusing on the Beaumont children mystery that 7 News exclusively broke last night with Michael Usher.

I think Seven is rushing through H&A episodes early in these first two weeks back because the Olympic Winter Games will be starting soon and that will mess around with its schedule.
