A few things:

•Melbourne Cup night should be utilised to the max, as in 9:30pm should have a big new program too, FTA movie premiere at least.

•Seven capitalising on RLWC’s successful launch, with Saturday night feature game on main channel. Though why not Melbourne? Givem that market got close to 200k last Friday?

•Inconsistent scheduling (day), with “Jurassic Park 2: The Lost World” (1997) on Friday week, following this Saturday for the original.

•The Good Doctor scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday this week, but not next?

I didn’t realise the VRC had renamed Oaks Day in honour of Laurie Oakes…

The Good Doctor is really good, better than I thought it’d be.

Lots of praise on social media as well.

Schedule Update

08:35 PM The Good Doctor
09:40 PM The Secret Daughter

This is a big gamble.

Personally, I would have waited until Friday to see the ratings from tomorrow before making this decision.

In the US, The Good Doctor takes a two week break after this week’s episode 6 and returns on November 13 with episode 7. If Seven continues to air two episodes per week, we will catch up by the fourth week of November, with episode 8 shown just three days after the US.

Then December comes around and suddenly no Good Doctor until February.

Secret Daughter should have been on the air months ago. Very poor forward planning on Seven’s part.

It’ll be Seven capitalising on Melbourne Cup day as much as possible.

So come Wednesday morning they’ll be hoping for 40% share and topped with 2m for the Cup, followed by winning their slots the entire night.

They love their PR.

Otherwise what benefit do they get showing The Secret Daughter later at night?

Seven’s erratic scheduling decisions will do them no favours.

They would have been stupid not to air it on Tuesday again.

Most people only actually watch the Melbourne Cup race, a lot of viewing either side of the race would be incidental as they are too busy enjoying the function they are attending. Seven hoping that the millions watching at 3:00pm will still be watching at 8:30pm is hoping too much.

Will they also be hoping that everyone will have lost their remote controls on Cup Day? I can’t see the night getting a massive share based on the cup during the day.

Previous Melbourne Cup nights have been big for Seven though, whether that’s just due to good promotion / popular programs or indeed the Cup.

They’ll be relying on the Melbourne audience particularly, as 1m+ in that market is watching at one point during the day.

Agree. I mentioned this in the ratings thread but seeing how bad Wednesdays are for Seven at 8.30pm. The Good Doctor could have been used to prop that night up instead.

They are just looking desperate to win the year and these erratic scheduling decisions do harm to programs in the long run. They keep trying to score some immediate points in the ratings and then hurt the shows’ long term futures,

The actual viewing audience in Melbourne will be more than that.

According to EPG start time for Secret Daughter is 9:43 - what a joke!

I wouldn’t trust anything Seven said about their schedule, they way it changes.
