TEMPTATION ISLAND follows four dating couples at a pivotal time in their relationship, where they must mutually decide if they are ready to commit to one another for the rest of their lives – or should go their separate ways. Together, the couples travel to the tropical paradise of Maui, Hawaii, where they join 24 eligible men and women. There, they live the “single life,” in a test that is meant to help answer their most difficult questions about their relationship.
Gold Digger
When Julia (60) is stood up on her birthday by all her grown up children, she randomly encounters Benjamin (33) at the British Museum and they begin a fledgling romance. Whilst being in their love bubble is fun, Julia tells Benjamin that she needs the real world and assumes he’s going to end it. But Benjamin agrees to make their courtship official.
Julia introduces Benjamin to her children – Patrick (34), Della (32) and Leo (24) – over dinner. Patrick conspires to get Della to accompany Julia to the ladies so that he can interrogate Benjamin. Benjamin tries to reassure him that he’s not up to anything and isn’t going to hurt Julia. The bill comes and Benjamin doesn’t even try to pay so Patrick angrily slams down his card.
Leo spills the beans to their father, Ted, who thinks the timing is interesting as their divorce has just been finalised. Patrick and Leo both believe that Benjamin is a gold digger but Della is more open minded. She thinks the romance will burn out so let Julia enjoy herself.
Patrick is married to Eimear but is having his head turned by an associate, Heidi, at work. He gets drunk and he almost kisses Heidi but pulls himself back. He doesn’t want to be like his father who cheated on his mother.
Flash forward a year: Julia and Benjamin are getting married. Patrick is still concerned that Benjamin’s only marrying his mum for her money, particularly when he hears that they’re thinking of buying a flat in London. On the day of the wedding Patrick discovers that someone knows about his affair. His eyes linger on Benjamin, full of suspicion.
