Seven AFL Coverage

Why would it clash when the RL will be on 7mate anyway?

Doubt a match featuring Australia will be airing on 7mate (at least in the NRL states anyway)

My comment was in reference to VIC/WA/SA where a likely 62-0 RLWC win by Australia over Lebanon is going to rate far, far less than an International Rules game

Round 21

The Great Western launches the round

The Giants-Bulldogs rivalry is set to build on Friday Night Football after the last two nail-biters have been decided by a kick, including the Bulldogs historic 2016 Preliminary Final win.

Before the match we feature former Bulldog and Giants captain Callan Ward talking about the fierce competition between the two clubs, then coaches Leon Cameron and Luke Beveridge join us live to preview the game. And after his late withdrawal due to illness last week, Roaming Brian returns to the winners’ rooms.

Essendon will be fighting to stay in the eight as they face top-of-the-ladder Adelaide at Etihad Stadium on Saturday Night Footy.

Injured Bomber livewire Orazio Fantasia will chat with Lingy at half time about his season and recovery.

Davis Cup captain and Crows fanatic Lleyton Hewitt is live at the desk on The Kick as we look ahead to Australia taking on Belarus in September.

At half time, Crows midfielder Hugh Greenwood tells his story on Discovered. A former US college basketballer for the University of Mexico where he rubbed shoulders with the next generation of NBA superstars, Hugh returned to Australia to play in the NBL for the Perth Wildcats, before defecting to AFL where he was rookie listed at the Crows.

On Sunday Football, Hawthorn host North Melbourne in Launceston as we go behind the scenes with the Kangaroos and sit down with Hawks midfielder Tom Mitchell to reflect on his stellar year with his new club.

Off topic, but Seven has got the wrong opponent. Australia will play Belgium in Davis Cup semi final in Brussels on September 15-17.

Unfortunately free to air (particularly seven) has killed free sport to all Australians irrespective of their status and location. Time to, unfortunately, pay for it.

Brian Taylor back tonight, after becoming ill last week.

He was back on Sunday.

There are 3 or 4 live games per round, what do you expect for free?

Personally I believe all AFL games should be on free to air tv. Its not like its ‘free’ the amount of advertising there is in these sports creates spending from viewers. I am paying for the AFL app now so doesn’t bother me but for those that cannot afford it creates a society that has a rich get this and poor miss out.

I am not sure how you blame seven? Seven brought outright rights to V8supercars, tennis Australia.

Ten brought the V8 Supercars and fox got majority share of the pie. If any one in this country has killed free to sport, it was the day in which Murdoch walked in, brought TEN and stopped ONEhd. Why did he buy it? Cause it was a threat to his father business, FOXTEL.

Which is the part that makes me laugh, Murdoch has the attitude that governments etc shouldn’t have a monopoly and that competition is good, that’s of course you create a business model that takes from his monopoly share…

Now back to the afl, seven got the deal that the afl wanted. So who’s to blame, seven or afl? Afl too, they set the adgenda in who bids for what and how.

Seven yes should still have four games, Saturday afternoon is missing but to their credit they are at least showing state league football instead. So a football fix is still on free tv.

Would Seven give up the 3.20 game on Sundays for Monday Night games? it might rate better on Monday Nights.

The AFL has ruled out Monday night games except for special occasions e.g. Anzac Day eve this year, because fans did not like to go to the footy on Monday nights.

The NRL axed Monday Night Football last year for pretty much the same reason.

AFL (Carlton vs. Hawthorn) is on the main channel in Perth this Saturday night, as local team West Coast is being simulcast on 7mate from 2:30pm & hence overlaps.

Very rare?

Seven News??

Typo error!! epg in perth as both games on 7 mate

Online guides has Seven News, “Sister Act” & “Blended” on the main channel in Perth this Saturday night.

Also an error?

(I was basing all of this off the AFL’s Broadcast Guide).

Round 22

Soaring Swans take on top Crows on Friday Night Football

All eyes have been on the Swans in the second half of the season and they will be keen to prove themselves against the competition’s top team, Adelaide, on Friday Night Football as they push towards a top four finish.

In the lead up to the bounce we talk to Matt and Brad Crouch about their seasons so far and their experience playing together for the Crows. We also feature the Swans players reliving their remarkable one-point win over the Bombers earlier this year using virtual reality goggles.

The Hawks and the Blues make a late first meeting for the season on Saturday Night Footy. The Blues will be hell-bent on a win as they aim to break the Hawks’ 11-year stronghold over the young and
improving side.

Carlton great Brendan Fevola joins The Kick live as the panel relives some of Fev’s finest moments. Retro Richo goes back in time to look at one of the most famous games of footy in the last 10 years when Buddy Franklin and Fev raced to kick their 100th goals.

At halftime, recently retired three-time premiership star Josh Gibson joins us live as we reflect on his stellar career with the Hawks, which saw him named in the 2015 All- Australian team and win two club best-and-fairest awards.

St Kilda and North Melbourne clash at Etihad Stadium on Sunday Football. The Saints broke a run of six losses to the Roos earlier this year and will need another victory if they have any hope left for September action.

Kangaroos star forward Ben Brown takes us through his unique kicking routine that has seen him score an impressive 54 goals this year, placing him in the top five goal scorers for the season.
