Seven AFL Coverage

Do you think it has something to do with the hosts not having played AFL? BT and Luke Darcy have both played the game hence why they arent the hosts.

I don’t think that’s the reason at all.

I think Lepatron is probably on the money :+1:

Edit:
Perhaps Turdall is onto something, thinking about it, Stephen Quartermain / Anthony Hudson / Tim Lane would rotate as “Host” when Ten had the AFL (in order of seniority).

Michael Christian was the other caller, but was never “host” (i.e.) he played for Collingwood.

Do you think Fox or Seven has the better callers these days?

Nobody compares to Bruce McAvaney (or the recently departed Dennis Cometti).

But it stops there for Seven these days sadly (bar Leigh Matthews).

Anthony Hudson & Sandy Roberts excell for Fox Footy :ok_hand:

Dwayne Russell is also quite good for Fox Footy. He is definitely OTT, but it makes close games a lot more exciting to watch.

More so than the commentators, Fox Footy’s graphics, camerawork and use of stats are so much more comprehensive than what Seven serve up.

On this subject, who was the female presenter in Fox’s Footy Central on Saturday when Sandy was calling the Bulldogs Eagles game?

Most likely would have been Sarah Jones.

###Round 16

The Saints and the Tigers clash for Maddie’s Match on Saturday

The Western Bulldogs take on the Adelaide Crows on Friday Night Football with ambitions of getting their shaky season back on track by defeating one of the flag favourites.

Leading up to the bounce, coaches Luke Beveridge and Don Pyke join the Friday Night team live and we also look at the recent rivalry between the Dogs and the Crows.

St Kilda and Richmond both have their eyes on finals and will go head to head for Saturday Night Footy. Coming off a string of three wins, the Saints will fancy their chances, but the Tigers have been tough to beat having won four out of their last five games.

On The Kick, Bomber Brendon Goddard is live at the desk fresh from his clash against the Magpies. Rock meets football when Grinspoon’s front man Phil Jamieson and guitarist Joe Hansen catch up with Swans’ vice-captain Luke Parker and Sam Reid. Viewers also get to meet Elliot, a 4-year-old boy with bone marrow failure who will be the Maddie’s Match hero and run out with the Saints.

At half time, Jack and Nick Riewoldt take viewers to the St Vincent’s Institute of Medical Research for an insight into the ground breaking work the facility does and where money raised from Maddie Riewoldt’s Vision is going.
The Demons are charging towards finals and the Blues will be hoping to put up a road block on Sunday Football.
Despite being defeated by the Demons in Round 2, the Blues have not lost consecutively to them since 2007 and have emerged victorious in nine of their last eleven clashes.

During the coverage, Carlton veteran Dale Thomas sits down to talk about his footballing future as he nears the end of his four-year contract with the Blues.

This weekend only WA gets four matches live while the rest of the country has three. Both NSW and QLD have doubleheaders on Saturday meaning they miss out on Carlton v Melbourne on Sunday.

This is a mess, just saying.

Blatantly Melbourne-centric now :pensive:

It’s such a good alternative & rating very well in one market, a shame.

A premature assessment with just one good number in Melbourne; I’d wait before declaring it a success. Next week the show moves to 7Mate in Adelaide and Perth.

It shows Seven’s lack of confidence in The Front Bar and its fear it will not rate in Adelaide and Perth.

Well last week it didn’t rate in either market given it had a 10.30 timeslot.
