Seven AFL Coverage

Basil Zempilas calling the match at Subiaco tonight with Brian Taylor.

Interesting that both regular Thursday night callers are off. Although Basil regularly substitutes for Bruce if the game is in WA. Bruce probably not keen to do the flight from Adelaide to Perth today to Melbourne tomorrow and then back to Adelaide.

Hamish must be having the entire weekend off – given he’s also off Game Day this week on Sunday.

Well deserved for Hamish though, it seems he does everything at Seven Sport.

Cameron Ling is scheduled to cover the Western Bulldogs v Melbourne match for 3AW with Tim Lane, Tony Leonard and Matthew Richardson. So he’ll go form Seven studio over to Docklands to cover that match.

He always does Sunday afternoon on AW after Gameday.

I noticed the Front Bar last night was live after the game when they crossed to Cameron Ling but then must have reverted to pre-recorded segments after that. Probably pre-recorded while the game was in-progress still last night. The “LIVE & FREE” reverted to the “SPORT” in the channel 7 watermark.

It makes sense since both Mick Molloy and Sam Pang have breakfast radio the next day and it was a later than usual game due to being in Perth. Have they done this previously this year at all?

Yes, good pick-up :+1:

Noticed this too and it’s happened before.

When it’s set to be a ‘very late’ finish.

There were some vision problems during the first quarter of North Melbourne-St Kilda match tonight. On two occasions one camera vision froze and turned grey, forcing a quick switch to another camera.

##Round 14

Thursday, Friday, Saturday night prime time clashes

The Hawks head to Adelaide for Thursday Night Football with hopes of avenging their Round 2 defeat that put an end to their seven-game winning streak against the Crows.

As Luke Hodge approaches his 300th game, he reflects on his successful football career that has seen him play in four premiership winning sides - three of which he captained - and win the 2008 Norm Smith Medal.

Both Sydney and Essendon are coming off strong wins and the stakes are high for their Friday Night Football clash. The Swans will be desperate to take away the points to prove themselves as top eight contenders, while Essendon will be hoping to further boost their chance of finals action.

In the lead up, both club coaches John Longmire and Josh Worsfold join the panel live. Daisy Pearce joins the Friday Night Football team and catches up with Swan Alex Johnson at halftime as he nears his long-awaited return to football.

The West Coast Eagles host Melbourne for Saturday Night Footy at Domain Stadium with both teams aiming to keep their feet firmly in the eight for the run towards finals. The Demons will be aiming to continue their rich vein of form after wins against the reigning premiers and Collingwood.

On The Kick, Luke Darcy goes head to head with leading Hollywood stars Will Ferrell and Amy Poehler to talk all things sport and their upcoming movie The House. Campbell Brown takes on the US and Canadian Ice Hockey teams and we chat live to new Australian Football Hall of Fame member and Demons coach Simon Goodwin.

Former Bomber turned Demons star defender Michael Hibberd is this week’s Discovered. Hibberd talks about his one year suspension, leaving Essendon and how he is settling in at Melbourne.

Sunday Football sees the resurgent Blues face off against a Tiger outfit on the rebound. The last five games between Carlton and Richmond have played out in favour of the Tigers, but the Blues will be hoping their recent successes will give them the confidence they need to break the stronghold.

Great for FTA, 4 games in Melb!

Andy Maher from The Front Bar said a Big Happy Birthday to Bruce McAvaney. What a wonderful milestone for him!

Last time this H&A season. Reverts back to Fri/Sat/Sun for Vic/Tas viewers, only 3 matches to be shown on FTA in round 23 too.

Yep, turns out we still need him when he’s 64!

I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but The Front Bar will move to 8.30pm Thursday’s from next week

It isn’t the first time - it was at 9pm a few weeks ago.

This is only for Melbourne though - it’s at 10.30pm in Adelaide and Perth.

With all the negativity and low ratings regarding The Footy Show now, wonder if The Front Bar will do well?

It was fantastic last night!

Post-game stuff, two guests (former veteran umpire & VFL Essendon champ), humourous segments/gags, cross to a commentator for analysis at whatever ground the game came from and most of all… It’s live :grinning:

Brian Taylor is a hot topic today, after he was “denied access” for his regular post-game interviews.

On a personal level, I found his commentary way over the top (more so than usual), last night, Bruce McAvaney must’ve been shaking his head.

In what was an astonishing game to witness, with massive ratings.
