Seven AFL Coverage

Good to see the AFL Finals on the main channel in Sydney.

Saw the “Channel Change” full screen graphic at 7.30 which we don’t normally see up here.

In fact, all the finals this week will be on the main channel in Sydney.

If the Giants beat the Swans on Saturday, and thus earn a home preliminary final at Engie Stadium, it may have to be played in the twilight slot on Saturday September 21, which will put it head to head with the Bledisloe Cup which is taking place next door at the Olympic Stadium.

The Sydney one was very basic, nothing like that.

Yes, they’re at the ground in the first and the second is a photo not a cap.

Just looking at this commentary from JB, what does 7 tell him & BT for them to sound completely different and boring on tv. I’m not saying allow them to swear or anything but they don’t show this type of excitement. On 7, all JB says after a great goal is to repeat the players name or like last year GF ‘wowee’ after the sidebottom goal etc

MMM JB and BT are in a different category to FTA JB and BT. BT has said on a Podcast previously that the calls made on 7 are to be generic to suit all audience demographics, but they just sound disinterested.

Hopefully with the changes to be bts people in charge of 7AFL, they can be a bit more like the MMM BT & JB (at least 50-75% as currently they are less than 10%)

Who’s in commentary for the VFL today?

Edit:
Looks like it’s Joseph Pignataro

Bennett & Darcy calling the early final. I assume Nicholson & Brayshaw (BT doing MMM for early final) might be calling the night final given Saturday night is normally Bennett & Darcy.

Indeed it is Brayshaw and Nicholson calling Brisbane v Carlton tonight.

Carlton’s dismal first half performance could mean a ratings disaster for Seven.

What’s happened to Hamish? I thought he was returning for Finals?

Why? I thought it was compelling viewing. A VFL/AFL record was almost broken for a team not scoring in the first half of a final.

Also remember there would be many former Fitzroy fans watching the game - would at least rate better than if Carlton had a similar disaster against Sydney for example.
