Do you mean 11.55am?

Interesting choice. The AFLW finals figures have been very weak overall, did AFL ask Seven for help in trying to inflate the average?

North Melbourne will host Brisbane Lions in the 2023 AFLW Grand Final at Melbourne’s Ikon Park next Sunday afternoon (December 3). The match starts at 2.30pm AEDT.

It will be the Kangaroos’ first ever GF appearance.

Has the GF been hosted in Victoria before?

It will only be the second time the AFLW GF is played in Victoria. In the 2018 decider at Ikon Park, Western Bulldogs beat Brisbane by six points.

2018 Brisbane vs Bulldogs. Was a wet day and the pre game entertainment had to be cancelled due to the weather. Crowd that day was 7,083 which was impacted due to the weather. I think the AFL should be expecting at least 10,000 spectators on Sunday.

10,000 would be a good turnout, will be tough given barely-supported North and interstate Brisbane are the teams (even with the Fitzroy connection).

The AFL said this afternoon that the Kangaroos-Lions grand final was now sold out.

Awesome to hear!

Great to see a sell out. That means at least 12,000 tickets have been sold. Great effort. Could have fit more into Ikon Park if they didn’t put the giant shed right on the boundary and allow some room for small grandstands along the boundary fence.

I wonder what is happening at Marvel Stadium on Sunday???

It’s North’s first grand final of any kind since last century

Meanwhile, this would be the Brisbane Lions’ 10th (5 in the AFL for a 3-2 record and 5 in the AFLW for a 1-3 record) this century. That’s more than any other club in this period.

Herald Sun reports that Hamish McLachlan and his young family will leave for southern France in two weeks’ time for a sabbatical. McLachlan will return to host the Magic Millions on the Gold Coast in January and will be part of Seven’s commentary team for Opening, first and second rounds of 2024 AFL season.
