In fact I can’t even remember the last time there was an open-roof match at the venue - from my memory it could be Western Bulldogs vs Sydney in round 17, 2021.
In the entire 2015 season there was just one match played with the roof open - Essendon vs Brisbane Lions in round eight, and that was a Sunday 1:10pm match.
Though I can understand why Marvel would prefer to close the roof for all matches this season - an open roof wouldn’t make for good TV viewing.
I wonder who will call Friday nights with BT whilst James Brayshaw is in London for the World Test Championship? Perhaps Hamish or Luke Darcy?
Most likely Hamish I’d say. He’s been used as a back-up on Friday nights whenever JB or BT has been unavailable, and he also deputized for Bruce once on a Friday night when he was in London for the 2012 Olympics (which Seven didn’t have the rights to, but rather he worked for the Olympic channel).
That’s about the only reason, it doesn’t make much difference at the ground unless you’re sitting directly in the sun which can happen no matter what orientation the ground is on. Mins you, des my head in when it’s closed on warm autumn nights early in the season just because it’s a night match.

Not often Melbourne gets a game involving two interstate teams.
Although these are probably the only two they’d ever do it with given their pasts.

Foxtel must’ve given permission to Seven (as it’s the latters production) to use Dunstall (one of their veterans too), although Fox simulcast it of course and IIRC because it’s not in-play they do their own cut-away pre game with a reporter and their mic on the boundary. Not the first either, recall Sarah Jones going down previously.
Doesn’t it usually happen at least once a year if not more when it’s Friday night (only one game of course and long-considered the ‘marquee’ timeslot for the best performing teams), so if they’re two interstates who have to meet and at least Top 8 if not Top 4 it’s almost a given IMO.
Nick Riewoldt did it too. I don’t think Fox would have to give permission for them to do it
