On Monday this week, the VFL announced nine games would be played as curtain-raisers to AFL matches across the season. Seven will show all seven VFL matches on Sundays (starting at 11.50am AEST), with the other two matches on Saturday afternoons in Geelong.
The seven televised curtain-raisers are:

Marvel Stadium
VFL Round 2: Sandringham v Box Hill on Sunday April 14 (curtain-raiser to St Kilda v Hawthorn)
VFL Round 8: Sandringham v Northern Blues on Sunday May 26 (curtain-raiser to St Kilda v Carlton)
VFL Round 15: Footscray v Casey Demons on Sunday July 14 (curtain-raiser to Western Bulldogs v Melbourne)
VFL Round 18: Northern Blues v Collingwood on Sunday August 4 (curtain-raiser to Carlton v West Coast)

MCG
VFL Round 5: Essendon v Geelong on Sunday May 5 (curtain-raiser to Essendon v Geelong)
VFL Round 6: Box Hill v Footscray on Sunday May 12 (curtain-raiser to Hawthorn v GWS)
VFL Round 19: Richmond v Northern Blues on Sunday August 11 (curtain-raiser to Richmond v Carlton)

Seven have (finally) changed the EPG, to better reflect major over-runs the past couple of years.

Friday night now has “Post Game” from 10:30pm to 11:30pm (previously was just part of the “AFL” title and scheduled to finish 11pm, but always went 30min+ overtime).

Saturday night the same but 10pm to 11pm (previously scheduled to finish 10:30pm but always went 30min+ overtime).

Purple 7mate watermark. What was interesting was that’s North Melbourne is changed to kangaroos for the women’s match.

Because the Kangaroos’ AFLW team is also representing Tasmania.

Yes, the full name is the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos, was a deal to help them get one of the licenses, I know there was talk of quotas for the Tasmanian representation, haven’t gone through the list though to see if that’s happened or not though.

Cause I know that North Melb have played a few home games in Hobart since 2012. North Melbourne have strong ties towards Tasmania. What I think of NM is that they have a strong winning record in Hobart

Yeah, it was also strategic to try and get the government to ditch the Hawthorn deal and allow North Melbourne to become the Tasmanian team. Will piss off a lot of people north of the border if/when that one happens!
Interestingly enough over on Fox, Hawthorn could be about to have a rare loss at Launceston where they are usually pretty strong at. Richmond currently less than a goal behind.

Interesting that Jason Bennett, Nigel Carmody and Abbey Holmes did double shift at Marvel Stadium today, commentating both Collingwood v Kangaroos then Western Bulldogs v Melbourne.

Hawthorn did lose to Richmond tonight.

In WA, they had three women’s AFL games - Geelong v Fremantle at GMHBA Stadium at 11:30am on 7, then the double header (Collingwood v Kangaroos & Western Bulldogs v Melbourne Double Header at Marvel Stadium) on 7mate after the Cats v Fremantle match. Alas, I didnt watch the Cats v Freo game as I was at someone’s house having lunch, but why they have the Geelong v Fremantle game on the primary channel instead of shunting it to 7mate to join a triple header for only WA viewers?

Great coup for Seven, signing up former player Gilbert McAdam as boundary reporter for AFL matches this season. McAdam will also appear on AFL Game Day and continue to be part of Marngrook Footy Show on NITV, according to today’s Sunday Herald Sun.

Edwards, who will remain host of AFL.com.au’s flagship news show Footy Feed, will make her debut on Channel Seven’s The Kick at 6.30pm AEDT on the Saturday of round one ahead of the Western Bulldogs-Sydney clash at Marvel Stadium.

Fantastic news Nat Edwards is great as well! Would now love to see Foxtel or 7 use a female commentator.

10 already did… Not sure why Kell wasn’t picked up for AFL by 7 or Fox.

Kelli Underwood? Never hosted an AFL TV show

Sarah Jones on Fox has been hosting games for years. Not sure why the AFL website is making a big deal of it unless it’s to give one of their own a pat on the back

Turdall said a female commentator, not sure how you managed to get ‘hosted an AFL TV show’ from that without not actually reading the previous comments. And like Wally said, Sarah Jones has hosted for years on Fox. And personally, Sarah is miles ahead of Nat and it is only getting mentioned because Nat works for the AFL.

Who is ‘host’(main caller for game son Seven?

We know Bruce has always been for FNF. But what about the other timeslots?
