Does Melbourne get a maximum of 5 FTA games per round? Or is it per week?

Or can there be more in special circumstances, such as Easter or Anzac?

I know often the Saturday night or Sunday afternoon is substituted.

It’s a maximum of 5 FTA games per round, including Easter and Anzac Day.

I think its a max of 5 per round.

I am assuming, and correct me if I am wrong, that some rounds will only have 3 games?

I am just glad I have Kayo this year. I won’t be missing the matches involving Port Adelaide.

Today’s Herald Sun has revealed the new line-ups for The Kick and Talking Footy.
The Kick
Nat Edwards (host), Matthew Richardson, Campbell Brown, Byron Cooke, Jacqueline Felgate and a rotation of young stars including Melbourne’s Angus Brayshaw and Essendon’s Andrew McGrath
Talking Footy
Luke Darcy (host), Wayne Carey, Tim Watson, Tom Browne, Jacqueline Felgate and Herald Sun’s Michael Warner.

Sam Lane, who was part of The Kick until the end of 2018 season, will conduct features and interviews across the AFL coverage.

Not exactly sure what that means, but I can imagine not being part of The Kick was a result of Nat Edwards joining and probably not her own?

Sam is very good and hope we now see her extensively, most telecasts doing live crowd and half time interviews, recorded features, etc. Probably a fill-in too.

She is heavily involved in AFLW and other Seven Sport events I guess.

Abbey Holmes joining the commentary team for tonight’s season opener at the MCG. I guess she will appear more frequently on Seven’s coverage of AFL and VFL during the season while Daisy Pearce takes maternity leave caring her recently born twins.

Scores now being displayed in the ad break.

Just like the cricket.

Sportsbet back as principal wagering partner for Seven’s AFL.

Last in 2017, I think it’s been swapping between them and Crownbet each year.

Razor ?

Your thoughts on the scoreboard watermark in ad break?

  • Great - it’s a good evolution
  • Nah. We don’t need these scoreboard watermarks.

I personally voted for “Nah, we don’t need these scoreboard watermarks” although it wouldn’t overly surprise me if every sports broadcaster is doing this sort of thing in a few years time.

Why not though?

Telecast finished at 11:19pm (AEDT).

I reckon that’s a bit ridiculous, it was scheduled to finish at 11pm and game finished at 10:06pm! The press conferences they air in post game are purposefully held and dragged out.

And it was R1, not a whole lot else to talk.

The post match show obviously rates better than alternative programming, so they pad it out to boost their primetime shares.
