Does anyone in SA have any shots of the local hostings? Is this the first time it’s happened for a Showdown? Interested to see what it looks like.

Not able to get caps, but it’s presented in front of a green screen with the old news desk (used in 2021).

Usually it’s done for most Showdown’s, apart from the one’s where Seven is the host broadcaster. They also do this for some twilight matches, and the odd night matches.

Rhett Bartlett posted the video on social media.

I saw the interview on air on Thursday night. The chat with Jai Newcombe was recorded at 10.22pm according to the clock at the back of Hawthorn rooms, and played on air at 10.25pm. That might explain why the editors did not have time to omit the F bomb.

Great to see Daisy Pearce part of Last Night Footy coverage

She’s been featured a lot more this season. I think 2-3 Sunday Arvo matches

I think Daisy Pearce is Perth based now (she coaches West Coast in the AFLW so maybe?). That might be why she covered a Thursday night match from Optus Stadium.

Yes Daisy lives in Wa , had done since taking over coaching West Coast AFLW 2 years ago

Fox did a zoom into their commentary box tonight and you can see 7’s background being pushed to the side while the Fox background was behind the commentary seats. Probably because 7 has that commentary box tomorrow

I will say, I’m surprised that 7’s background is subtle and I don’t think it has any ‘7’ logos

Last Sunday was a goal feast with the match finishing at 6:05pm. This week the match finished at 5:45pm and the coverage was able to show interviews & the team song before the coverage wrapped up

Four’N Twenty Legends Game for Prostate Cancer to return in 2026

One of Australian football’s most iconic charity events will return to the Seven Network in 2026, with the Four’N Twenty Legends Game for Prostate Cancer set for Thursday, August 27, live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.

Broadcast live from Marvel Stadium, the match will again form a key part of the Australian football calendar, with the Vics and the All Stars battling in prime time in the lead-up to the inaugural Wildcard Round.

Raising awareness and vital funds to support patient care and research at the Australian Prostate Centre, the match returns after a successful re-launch in 2025, which reached 2.3 million Australians on Seven and 7plus Sport, raising over $1 million.

The Four’N Twenty Legends Game for Prostate Cancer will once again bring together the football community for a night that celebrates the game’s most iconic past players, while supporting an important cause that continues to affect thousands of Australian families each year.

The 2026 match will continue to honour the legacy of E.J. Whitten Sr, whose courage and advocacy helped bring national attention to prostate cancer.

Head of AFL and Sport Innovation at the Seven Network, Gary O’Keeffe**,** said: *“*The return of the Four’N Twenty Legends Game for Prostate Cancer delivered incredible ratings results for Seven in 2025 – making it abundantly clear just how much Australians missed the iconic match.

“We are proud to play a part in delivering this spectacle to fans all over the country, while working closely with our partners to raise vital funds for the Australian Prostate Centre,” he said.

“We look forward to seeing which stars of yesteryear don the Big V and the All Stars guernseys on one of the most entertaining nights on the football calendar.”

This will be the night before the historic 1st Wildcard Final.

I feel they could have had this on a Wednesday then had AFLW on Thursday since the AFLW would have started by then & then have wildcards Friday & Saturday before Sunday arvo AFLW.

Probably not the best thing ratings wise having AFLW as Thursday when it’s probably going to be competing with NRL
