SEN (Radio)

Syndication of Crocmedia produced shows (e.g. Sportsday and AFL Nation)?

Pacific Star raised about $3.5 million in June and July by issuing new shares. Craig Hutchinson chipped in almost $25,000 for additional shares.

They also have a loan with the Commonwealth Bank.

Adding some details from the press release to what was outlined in the previously mentioned Mediaweek article:

  • During Summer, 1170 SEN will broadcast selected test matches, the Big Bash and the Australian Open. Wonder whether 2UE will continue to carry the Big Bash (under Macquarie’s rights deal) as well?
  • The current breakfast show with Joel Caine and Jimmy Smith which airs on the NSW SENTrack stations will end when 1170 SEN launches so that Andrew Voss’ new show can be simulcasted on both networks. Caine and Smith will then reportedly transition to other roles in the station.
  • The Sydney-centric hour of Gerard Whateley’s program will air from 12pm - 1pm Monday - Thursday

One of the shortest-lived breakfast shows ever then. Even The Ugly Phil Breakfast Show at 96FM lasted longer than this!

Joel and Jimmy currently airs on SEN Track in Queensland, with Ian Healy and Pat Welsh replacing the pair from 7 September.

Yeah Sports Today on UE wasn’t a bad show.

Does Crocmedia’s Sportsday still follow Talkin’ Sport on 2SM?

It also seems that 1539AM Sydney will switch from Rete Italia to SENTrack on Saturday.

Just on this point:

…even though both SEN and SENTrack are currently running on Sydney DAB+ with programming?

Will SEN Sydney use 2ch existing studio number: 1300 13 1170?

No. They’ll like use the network’s 1300 SEN SEN.

The last two summers the Big Bash was on both Magic/MSR 1278 and SEN in Melbourne. If the Macquarie deal is still a lasting legacy then I’m sure they’ll still simulcast it on both stations in Sydney and Melbourne.

SEN Spirit in Bunbury will launch on Monday, with the soon-to-be-departed 10 News First Perth sport presenter, Tim Gossage, and former Hot FM & Radiowest presenter, Naomi ‘Nay’ Pearce, to present breakfast.

I don’t agree with David Schwarz a lot these days (even though he was a champion of the team I support in the AFL) but on this I agree! Hutchison has ruined SEN1116, not to mention my beloved Classic Rock Radio. Maybe he should concentrate on getting his original station back on track before all the rest of the stations he is trying to create.

I used to listen to SEN with Finey on in the evenings and all those great shows but now have switched over to 3AW.

Used to listen to everybody except Finey. Don’t like SEN much anymore but I’d never listen to 3AW.

It’s a Sydney & Melbourne program variant of Rete Italia network.

Interestingly, Niche Radio/Rete Italia isn’t available on Sydney DAB+ today. Wasn’t it supposed to make the switch after 1539AM became SENTrack?

Yeah I’ve been looking/waiting for it to appear on DAB+ past couple of days & also did another rescan this morning on the DAB+ radio & also don’t see it.

The Rete Italia website refers to readers to keep an eye on their newspaper for an announcement when the service might appear on DAB+. Their website still lists their now old Melb & Sydney MW frequencies.

I would have thought Rete Italia or Niche Radio Network would have appeared on a DAB+ multiplex channel at the same time SEN & SEN Track appeared in Sydney on DAB+, but not to be.
