They already do shows together don’t they?
They were advertising for a Drive announcer for 5x days a week. Must not have had the level of applicants they were after, or the SEN Geelong concept has had the brakes put on it somewhat.
Hutchy clearly had a clear vision to expand the SEN model into regional areas, much like Sport 927 once did, but with the added ambition of embedding genuinely localised SEN programming in those regions. Now that he effectively controls RSN, along with the very regional network he once aspired to build, the logical step would be to follow 927’s lead and expand SEN further outward.
However, the obvious question remains: who would actually want to work for a network that appears unwilling to meaningfully invest in the same regions it aims to serve?
In an ideal world, the goal would be 100% localism, supported by at least some level of locally produced sport coverage. Unfortunately, it is difficult to see that becoming a reality when the network seemingly lacks both the financial commitment and, arguably, the strategic direction required to make it happen.
Outside of the metros, there’s only a small number of markets where a hyper-local, American-style of sports talk can work in Australia and, like the American examples, it’s really only the large ‘one team towns’ that make the cut.
- Geelong
- Newcastle
- Wollongong
Aka, provincial cities with their own AFL or NRL team.
SEN Geelong could be a huge operation, but it seems more apparent that SEN aren’t willing to go all-in as they’d need to.
I mean they’d need an analogue licence to do so, and there isn’t one.
See if the Camerons will sell K-Rock or Bay FM to them.
they might have better luck trying to grab the HPON, currently used by “3GL”
Then get that. By hook or by crook.
That’s also owned by Geelong Broadcasters (KRock/BayFM)…smart people - bought all the licences.
Retained not bought…K-Rock, Bay and 3GL were excluded from ARN’s acquisition of 46 Grant stations. K-Rock, Bay, 3GL along with 50% shares in 5 joint venture stations (Eagle FM,2CC,2CA, GNFM and 6IX are still Grant owned assets.
An excellent opportunity to boost the brand with coverage of the Kings vs Wildcats NBL Finals starting tonight.
Once again, SEN are airing crap like “Wellness Wednesday” and “The Drivers Seat” and the “best” of Adam Peacock.

SEN, SENTrack boosts local coverage across the Darling Downs
SEN and SENTrack is set to expand its local sports radio offering across the Darling Downs, with a refreshed programming lineup that boosts local sport and racing.
The enhanced schedule strengthens SEN’s commitment to delivering premium rugby league and racing coverage and high‑quality local content for listeners into Toowoomba and beyond.
SENTrack Darling Downs 91.5fm will continue to feature its popular weekday shows including Breakfast with Coz & Heals (with Corey Parker and Ian Healy) each morning from 6am to 9am, The Run Home featuring Bryan Fletcher from 4pm to 5pm Monday to Thursday, Sportsday with Mat Rogers and Jarrod Croker from 5pm to 6pm Monday to Wednesday, and live NRL coverage each Friday night.
Building on this foundation, SENTrack is adding several new programs from this week, including full coverage of all Broncos Radio games featuring Mark Braybrook, Corey Parker and Andrew McCullough in commentary.
Also joining SENTrack 91.5fm is new show, Knock Off Fridays, with Jimmy Maher, Ben Davis and Jason Scott from 3pm to 4pm every week, ahead of popular racing show the Punters Mate featuring all the insights of Queensland racing.
The network will continue to feature and showcase the best of Queensland metro and regional chasing, pacing and racing across the region.
SEN Chief Executive, Craig Hutchison, said the expansion reflects the network’s ongoing investment in regional listeners and its commitment to delivering more of the local sport and racing they love.
“Our audience in the Darling Downs and across regional Queensland is incredibly passionate, and we’re thrilled to strengthen our local and live sport offering for them,” Hutchison said.
“These enhancements – including taking more content from our SENQ sports station - build on what is already a strong lineup and ensure that fans have even greater access to the Broncos, the NRL and quality local programming. We’re proud to continue growing our presence in the region and delivering the content our listeners value most.”
The updated schedule commences today (March 11).
Tim Barrow was also a presenter on SEN 1170’s Saturday Sports Vibe on Saturday mornings alongside his Illawarrra Mercury colleague Mitch Jennings, plus Matt Russell and Mat Campbell.

During the Tasmania Devils’ inaugural season, SEN Tasmania will broadcast all their home and away matches on radio via SEN Tassie 1629am into Hobart, via SENTrack 1611am into Launceston and Devonport, plus they will also be streamed onto the SEN app.

Commentary will be led by Matthew Donald, Hugo Higginbotham and legendary VAFA Hall of Fame caller, Simon Petch.
South West Football League (SWFL)

Commentators will include Ian Dunstan, Royce Newton and Glenn Wilson.
Perth Football League
Broadcasting the ‘match of the round’ every Saturday from 1pm AWST, which can be heard via the SEN app. The commentary team will be made up of Tim Lee and Ric Crosara.
Northern Territory Football League (NTFL)
Whilst the NTFL has just wrapped up for another year - with the Grand Final being held on March 14 – SEN is gearing up to broadcast another NTFL season later in the year, scheduled to run from October 2026 to March 2027, and broadcast across SEN Top End 1611am and SENTrack Top End 90.7fm.
Taking into account all of the above leagues, plus SEN’s AFL, NRL, netball and racing coverage over the winter months, this means on Saturday afternoons there can be up to 15 simultaneous broadcasts available at the same time via the SEN app.
SEG Chief Executive, Craig Hutchison, said this commitment to emerging and local leagues highlighted the organisation’s passion in bringing live sport to as many Australians as possible.
“Our passion is bringing live and local sport to as many Australians as we can, and local footy is a huge part of that. Supporting these leagues - established, emerging and everything in between - is something we’re immensely proud of.
“Football, netball and racing clubs are the heart of local communities and locals want local and tribal content.
“In 2026, fans will have more ways to follow their clubs than ever before, and that’s exactly what SEN is here to deliver.”
Will the Devils’ matches take priority over AFL matches on Saturdays and Sundays on SEN in Hobart and Launceston then?
That’s what’s been happening the last 3 weeks.
Local content such as a local footy broadcast is such clear breach of narrowcast rules on those SEN Track stations. Other stations have been pinged for far less in being quasi community stations.
‘You ring, you get on’. Billy Brownless had plenty of time in the car on the way to Adelaide so he rang and he got on!
His old mate Dwayne Russell was hosting afternoon’s on SEN and he got on to plug the Rush Hour!
