Osher made a long post on his Instagram this morning thanking everyone who was involved in the documentary.

Thank you to everyone who shared their story with us including Joe Williams and all of the families who let us into their lives; Ursula who lost her son, Hanna and her Mum who told us about the home TMS treatment, and Allan who allowed us to film his experimental Ketamine Treatment.

Thank you to the Black Dog institute, Prof Mayuresh Korgaonkar and his FMRI research team at The Westmead Institute for Medical Research and the Stride Safe House in Blacktown.

Toby Ralph, Sarah Henty and all the camera and crew that were able to operate in some incredibly intimate and delicate emotional environments with complete professionalism.

And to the wonderful team at Lune, Leonie Low, Jodi Boylan, Beck Vallis, Anastacia Perri and Quinn Goh to name just a few.

The City of Art

Tuesday 13 December 11:40 AM

Graffiti, tagging, street art. In this short documentary, filmed in Perth, we explore the much-divided topic of graffiti. Just because some street art has been created illegally should it not be considered art still? We speak with muralists and graffiti artists to gather their thoughts about the matter to gather more insight about this much divide topic.

Dean Martin: King Of Cool

Sunday 25 December 7:30 PM

Dean Martin epitomised cool.

A founding member of the Rat Pack, Dean was a multi-talented performer who was part of the number one comedy act in America, a chart-topping singer for over half a century, and one of the biggest stars in Hollywood and on TV.

He was the consummate charmer on stage and off.

Everybody loved him.

Yet for all his celebrity, fame, and adoration, no one ever truly knew him.

King Of Cool seeks to change this.

Through the use of interviews with friends, family, those who worked with him, and modern actors and musicians inspired by him, as well as never before seen archival footage including from his time with Jerry Lewis, his movies and his TV Variety Show and Roasts, viewers get an intimate and personal account of his life.

The film dives deep to try and understand why he was such an enigma and even searches to find Dean’s Rosebud.

Uri Geller’s Secret Treasures

Sunday 25 December 8:25 PM

Uri Geller, the man who bends spoons, reads minds, and can stop your watch.

But who is he really? This compelling 90-minute documentary takes an extraordinary look behind the life of the man whose fame spans over 50 years and across the globe.

Geller has been revered and known worldwide for fifty years, and in that time, he has met and befriended many of the greatest names in sport, show business, politics, and philanthropy.

Within those friendships, many have gifted Uri items that celebrate their connection, or that have a special tie with Uri’s interests and philosophy.

Geller has now gathered this incredible collection to one place - an historic building in Old Jaffa, Tel Aviv, in his home country of Israel.

Some Kind Of Heaven

Tuesday 27 December 8:30 PM

America’s seniors have discovered the fountain of youth.

It’s in The Villages - America’s largest retirement community in Florida.

Referred to as the ‘Disneyland for Retirees’, The Villages is home to over 130,000 seniors, and offers residents a utopian version of the American yesteryear - wide, safe streets, perfectly manicured lawns, and countless activities all in service of enjoying their golden years.

Behind the gates of this palm tree-lined fantasyland, Some Kind Of Heaven invests in the dreams and desires of a small group of residents - and one interloper - who are unable to find happiness within the community’s pre-packaged paradise.

With strikingly composed cinematography, this candy-coloured documentary offers a tender and surreal look at the never-ending quest for finding meaning and love in life’s final act and challenges our stereotypes on ageing and community.

Lies, Politics And Democracy

Tuesday 3 January 8:30 PM

In September 2022, ahead of the 2022 midterm elections and amid continuing false claims that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump, Frontline presents Lies, Politics and Democracy.

From veteran Frontline filmmaker Michael Kirk and his award-winning team, Lies, Politics And Democracy is an examination of the profound and mounting threats to American democracy, as it tracks major political decisions made in the United States over the past seven years, and lays bare the deep fissures that resulted.

The documentary presents startling new details from GOP insiders on how the indulgence of Trump’s authoritarian impulses and embrace of his rhetoric enabled his power over the American political system, leading the nation to this precarious moment.

Told in part through the perspectives of key Republican players and party leaders, the two-hour special provides first-person accounts from those who sounded.

A disappointing schedule from SBS with so many repeats, just as the other networks are starting new programs for 2023. The first week I can recall for a long time that has no premiere series or documentary or special program.

Also notable that War Of The Worlds series 3 has been pushed to a late night timeslot form 5 January. Unusual for SBS to move a premium first run series to such a late slot; must have been disappointed with the ratings.

Promo shown during this week says the episode will feature actress Jean Smart.
Then I realise that SBS has bought the rights to the American version of Who Do You Think You Are? (the Jean Smart episode was the finale of season 9 in 2018). It was shown intermittently on Nine during weekend afternoons.
