SBS have been putting a lot of their on-demand “back catalogue” in late night timeslots recently. First run for FTA programming rather than their previous practice of running repeats.

I notice that 1000 Years of History has been off air after the first two episodes (Scotland and Russia) have been shown. Are the other four episodes not ready yet?

According to the SBS Media advertising blurb on their website they can split advertising.

Henry VIII And The King’s Men

Sunday 30 May at 08:30 PM, 09:30 PM and 10:30 PM

Tracy Borman fronts this series based on her best-selling book of the same name. Following in the footsteps of her successful series “Private Lives of the Monarchs” Borman paints the portrait of England’s most famous king and the enablers, the fools, the teachers and the men at arms who knew him best and shaped his outlook on the world.

Ep1 This episode tells the story of Henry VIII’s early life and the way in which the man he was to become was shaped by the men he grew up with.

Ep 2 This episode charts the first phase of Henry VIII’s reign as Dr Tracy Borman reveals how his less than kingly upbringing had made him a very different man from his father.

Ep 3 With the king’s former Chief Minister, Cardinal Wolsey, dead, his shoes were filled by his protégé Thomas Cromwell who enacted the policy of the dissolution of the monasteries.

Heliopolis: The City Of The Sun

Friday 28 May at 7:30 PM

Cairo, March 2017 - construction workers make a spectacular discovery beneath metres of rubble. At the bottom of a deep pit, buried in mud and debris, lies an enormous crowned stone head.

Nearby the torso and plinth. These are the remains of a colossal quartzite statue, 9 metres high and weighing several tons. It’s an archaeological sensation, a clear indication that this was once the heart of an ancient, legendary metropolis - Heliopolis.

Robson Green: Walking Hadrian’s Wall

From Thursday 3 June at 8:35 PM 3 episodes

From its Easternmost point of Segedunum, Robson sets off on his 84-mile-long journey in Hadrian’s footsteps. Along the way he discovers the boyish thrill of geocaching, learns of the Roman Frontier’s Las Vegas, Corbridge, and its game-changing finds, and sees how some thrifty neighbours repurposed the wall in Wall for their own needs. He even finds time for a dip in the Tyne near his hometown of Hexham, and a refuel with a classic Northumbrian treat, before burying a little treasure of his own.

SBS decided to repeat the first episode of last season of Who Do You Think You Are? before the new season starts on June 8. This was the episode I missed last year because my PVR wouldn’t record. I watched it and the Kat Stewart episode on SBS on Demand last weekend before that season was withdrawn from streaming this week.
