Going Places With Ernie Dingo - Season 4

From Saturday 30 January at 7:30pm

From Sunday 31 January at 8:30pm

National treasure Ernie Dingo takes us to a host of brand-new locations, kicking off on Saturday 30 January at 7.30pm on SBS with half-hour episodes, and taking a deeper dive on NITV in extended episodes from Sunday 31 January at 8.30pm.

The fourth season of Going Places with Ernie Dingo champions Australia’s diversity - not only in landscape but also cultures and people. In each episode, Ernie meets with traditional owners and locals and his conversational and laid-back interview style provides an intimate portrait of each of the locations he visits.

This season sees Ernie meet an array of extraordinary characters, exploring connection to Country and culture. He meets with First Nations communities in Darwin who educate audiences on the importance of the wildlife to the land, a nun on Bathurst Island who is working with young families and artists to share their love for their culture, traditional owners in the Whitsundays who are conducting research on sea turtles, and many more incredible individuals.

Ernie scales from the Top End in Queensland to the Murray River in South Australia, and special guest Aaron Fa’aoso ( Black Comedy, Little J & Big Cuz ) joins Ernie for a couple of special episodes along the way, exploring the outback town of Longreach, as well as guest presenting one episode where he takes us to Granite Belt in Queensland, catching up with music legend Kev Carmody for a chat.

All episodes will be available to stream on SBS On Demand, with subtitles available in Arabic, Simplified Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Hindi.

SBS food show Luke Nguyen’s Railway Vietnam was named best lifestyle programme at the 25th Asian Television Awards last night, which was held online due to COVID-19 pandemic. It was one of two Aussie winners at the event, the other was last year’s NBL Grand Final game one between Sydney Kings and Perth Wildcats, which won best live sports coverage award. (It was produced by IMG for ESPN and SBS Viceland)

How?

The NBL outsourced production to IMG?

Yes, but how can it win an Asian TV award?

The Asian TV Awards are open to programs from Australia. IIRC My Kitchen Rules and The Amazing Race Australia both won previously.

The NBL GF was up against fellow nominees martial arts event One Championship: Century Part II and 2019 Philippines Basketball Association (PBA) season. The organisers didn’t say how the category was judged on.

Ok, thanks.

It’s a star-studded season with Daniel Radcliffe, Naomie Harris, Kate Winslet and Sharon Osbourne.
