The traditional ANZAC Day clash between Essendon v Collingwood where the Magpies demolished the Bombers was the top sports entry with 679k. That compares to last year’s game that had 838k on a Friday.

On Nine, in ANZAC Day Footy the Roosters delivered a thrashing to the Dragons with the average audience 533k, up on last year’s game that had 512k.

Better Homes And Gardens was narrowly the top entertainment title of the day with 496k just ahead of the Blue Murder Motel season final that had 493k its best result since the premiere episode. Top End Bub’s finale missed the rankings but Death In Paradise was up 50k to 301k.

On 10 the 5th season of Love It Or List It Australia got its FTA premiere and had a 8-week high 262k audience.

For Nine in primetime, main channel coverage in Sydney and Brisbane was Women’s Rugby Test - Wallaroos V Black Ferns averaging 158k while the WWII movie Midway had 190k.

Primetime AFL had 172k reflecting in Adelaide and Perth main channel coverage of Port Adelaide v Geelong and Fremantle v Carlton while 7Mate in Brisbane had Hawthorn v Gold Coast.

A special Anzac Day edition of Weekend Sunrise that was 7.5 hours long in total included codings of 486k and 381k for the Late segment while Weekend Today had 330k and 297k for the Late segment. Today Early was ahead of Sunrise Early.

ABC’s Gallipoli Dawn Service (322k) and Villers Bretonneux Dawn Service (301k) were timeslot leaders ahead of the commercials.

Some big news numbers at 6pm especially for a Saturday with Seven News on 1.237m. Nine’s bulletin had 984k while ABC News at 7pm had 777k to be ahead of A Current Affair.

The Hawks vs Suns game was on a 5-6 hour delay since 7 had live coverage of the Pies v Bombers match. The other 2 games were about 80-90min delays

The ABC’s coverage of Anzac Day March missed the top 30.

Given the picture quality issues in Brisbane, Hobart and Perth, plus the complete dropout for an extended time in Melbourne, it’s not surprising.

Some good numbers for during the day. Particularly the Gallipoli Dawn Service. ABC’s coverage averaged 322k, Seven averaged 241k and Nine with 179k.

Unless it didn’t make the cut, but did Weekend Sunrise and Today not include a “late - extended” to their long coverage yesterday?

The NRL did well, considering the blowout score. It’s extended pre-match segment did well too.

Better Homes listed as a repeat, instead of a new ep?

I think it’s the first time Seven provided its own ratings wrap for a Saturday.

Any ratings for the VFL match into Tassie on the main channel in prime time?

A disappointing result for the Anzac Day clash, not helped by the second half blow-out, tech problems and perhaps also being on a Saturday. One of the lowest ever I can recall, a far cry from the old Ten and Nine days where it’d often be well north of 1m five city alone.

And if on a Sunday - Wednesday it had often been used as a marquee lead-in and promo vehicle for a show launch on Seven that evening.

It wasn’t simulcast on Fox back then.

I think it was probably the Saturday factor. Generally the weekday ANZAC matches tend to do well as it’s generally a public holiday in the middle of the week

.. though Sunrise had a far greater reach.

Each city’s march gets a separate ratings coding so it is unlikely that any would make the top 30.

But I think this line is used far too often as an excuse. Maybe more today yes, but not several years back, as 2012 to about COVID, FTA/Seven could still pull high ‘000s or the occasional 1m metro broadcast alone for a major match, despite Fox Footy simulcast.

VOD has changed a lot of viewing habits now I think, Kayo and 7Plus in this case.

BHG was a new episode wasn’t it? Didn’t it continue on on the ANZAC theme from Friday night’s episode?

This from @SportsindustryAU shows the ratings since 2015

It was a new episode of BH&G last night.

Essendon are in the pits and Collingwood aren’t too hot as well. Couple that with a one sided smashing, and can you say that you’re surprised? The NRL game was a smashing too, and its ratings reflect that as well
