Look at this. Cowboys suffering a 70-point humiliation to the Sydney Roosters - it is the worst loss in the club’s history. 
This also is the heaviest defeat ever suffered by any QLD-based team in the NRL history. Sadly, the Cowboys never turned up during tonight at Townsville.

Fun fact: Paul Gallen scored the first try of the match in the 18th minute.
Also that evening, the Cowboys recorded what was then their biggest ever win, crushing the Rabbitohs by 60-8 in Townsville.
When the Sharks returned to Parramatta in 2004, they won in golden point and would not again leave the old Parramatta Stadium as losers until 2011.

Melbourne Storm will officially (legitimately) miss the finals for the first time since 2002 (while they were sentenced to win the wooden spoon in 2010 due to salary cap breaches, they still won enough games to have otherwise qualified for the finals), following their loss to the Bulldogs at home this evening.
Down at the wrong end of the ladder, the Dragons will all but claim the wooden spoon if the Wests Tigers beat Parramatta on Sunday (in turn, the Tigers would also avoid last place as they have a bye in hand), and the Titans and Broncos win earlier in the round.

Knights played well.
Apparently, the last time the grand finalists from last year both missed the Top 8 the following year was 2005.
Still a chance the entire Top 4 from last year miss the finals too, but Bulldogs are looking like they’ll make it now.
That year, the Eels and Dragons both finished one and two on the ladder with 16-8 records (though it should be noted the Dragons lost five of their first six games that season), though it was the former side which finished first on points differential despite copping a 54-14 loss to the Broncos in round five.
Everyone thought it would be an Eels vs Dragons Grand Final, only for the Cowboys and Tigers to flip the script with upset victories in their respective preliminary finals (the Cowboys’ 29-0 win being the most shocking result, though the Eels were without Nathan Hindmarsh IIRC).

Suffice it to say i am one happy chappy tonight.
I wont be the last upset with the Broncos and Storm missing out on the 8.
Also Reese Walsh is an Olympic class show pony.

If it’s happened in rugby league in the last half a century, there’s a fair chance Bob Millward has seen it.
And after 60 years serving rugby league in the Illawarra, the man affectionately known as “Bobby Steeler” has called it a day as a director.
Millward, 88, will retain his role as president of the NSW Rugby League, but has stepped down from official duties with the Steelers board after an incredible tenure.
