Apparently kick off will be 9.30pm NZ time!

I wonder how well that will be received over there?

Stop putting Origin in random places. Leave it in NSW and Queensland.

Speaking of “random places”, what about having it at Scone, huh? :grin:

But seriously, back in the day when NSW and QLD had two home games on alternate years, that tended to tip the balance in the favour of the home team for that year.

So I’m happy with one game each and one neutral game. “It’s For The Good Of The Game”. And I think it makes it more interesting having such an advantage taken out of the equation.

NRL in talks to stage premiership matches in Japan and the Middle East following success of Las Vegas season launch

The NRL has hatched plans to play premiership games in Japan and the Middle East as the ARL Commission explores the biggest global expansion project in the code’s 118-year history.

ARL Commission boss Peter V’landys has revealed a historic fixture in Japan is on the agenda, while the NRL is in high-level talks to stage a premiership game in the Middle East as early as next season.

In a landmark strategic plan to further increase the NRL’s brand as a world game, Code Sports can reveal:

  • The NRL is looking to expand on its American footprint;
  • Miami has emerged as another US market to capitalise on the NRL’s glamour premiership kick-off in Las Vegas;
  • The NRL is considering taking a premiership fixture to England;
  • The NRL is planning a third NRL game overseas in 2027, with a fourth potentially in 2028; and
  • Cashed-up Middle Eastern delegates have made overtures to the NRL keen to road test rugby league in a region dominated by soccer.

(In the print edition of The Sunday Telegraph today, the article title is For Pete’s Saké)

I do hope they know it’s NRL. Not GRL.

Broncos confirmed in a two paragraph statement that Haas would depart the club at the end of the 2026 season.

Re taking NRL games to Japan and the Middle East. No! Just no! It’s bad enough having these exhibition games being played at Las Vegas. If the overseas want matches, then have International Matches played there instead.

NRL: National Rugby League. Soon to be TNRL Tri-National Rugby League :stuck_out_tongue: Thanks to clubs from Australia, New Zealand and PNG playing

If the clubs are keen on it, it might be worth having a crack at

The Vegas thing isn’t bad though….:thinking:

The Vegas thing is ridiculous.
There’s no long term growth plan, it’s just a sports gambling grab by PVL and co.
It’s just an excuse for Aussies/NZers to have a long weekend in Vegas.

Don’t get the Japan idea at all. Rugby union is already well entrenched there - it’s already held a World Cup and they have a decent national side. League won’t take off there and many of the world’s best union players play in the Japan competition.

Saudi/UAE - well, we all know the reason$ why they’d go there
