Royal Children's Hospital Good Friday Appeal

7 needs to do a good job of this this year. They need to build some goodwill with the Melbourne audience again.

3AW’s GFA fundraising campaign this year will take place at Eureka Skydeck at Southbank, after spending the last couple years as a Yarra River cruise. Jacqui Felgate will host her drive show there and interview guests.

Any word on where Seven will be broadcasting from this year?

I’m assuming they’ll dust off that oval shaped desk they’ve used for 15 years. It’s almost come tradition.

I just don’t get it.

If Perth can go all day why can’t Melbourne?

Give it GTV9.

Because it isn’t Kerry Stokes home town

Also, Seven Melbourne have been having budget cuts for years. Also has been limited interstate guests as well. Meanwhile half of Seven’s talent get’s flown across for Perth’s Telethon.

Let’s at least be grateful that they still have daytime coverage, and not limited to primetime.

Assuming that outside of the schedule there will be a cross during Sunrise and possibly TMS.

Lost opportunity to host Sunrise from Melbourne that morning.

Does Seven even care these days?

Especially the current situation in Melbourne. I really thought they would have altered things this year, to try and gain back Melbourne audiences.

This was a missed opportunity for Seven. Im also wondering what the hell does Lewis Martin actually do? Currently everything is done from Sydney.

Managed to take a screenshot of the line up from Seven’s promo on Instagram. Larry Emdur will host the primetime session.

EDIT: the promo

I think because Perth’s Telethon is completely different, running over days, vs the RCH GFA only a single day (not even), impacted now by the tied-in AFL telecast for it, obviously the ratings collapse over the years and subsequent budget cutting and reduced telecast. The fact they don’t even move it to 7mate or something during the football says a lot. You wonder if they don’t give it up just so Nine can’t get their hands on it. It’s definitely a shadow of its former self, the last year that looked like it’s still prime days and top effort was probably like 2013 or something.

2016 was the last time it was shown all day, except for the 6pm news, while 2018 was the last time there was the morning coverage.

The coverage needs to commence at 9am as per its original broadcast time. Not midday.

Since 2016 it’s lost 6 hours of broadcast time.

Doing that would defeat the purpose of the telethon being interrupted for the AFL though since the game is a fundraiser for the Good Friday Appeal.

The Good Friday Appeal auction house at Tarneit in Melbourne’s outer west, will feature on Better Homes and Gardens this Friday, March 22.

Each year, the Good Friday Appeal house auction raises vital funds for the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne. While building a house is normally just a job, building a home that will help families look after a sick child is a labour of love. Construction Supervisor Rod gives Johanna a tour of this year’s amazing property that’s up for grabs and details the quality of the home built by generous tradies who have given up their valuable time. But it’s a chat with Mat and his son Jak that really brings into sharp focus the reason for auctioning off the house; raising funds to help the Royal Children’s Hospital do the lifesaving work they do.
