Regional Radio (non-SCA)

There’s no such requirement. The local slot can be voice tracked so long as the voice tracks have been prepared in or specifically for that market. They don’t even have to mention anything local.

I’d much prefer voice-tracked localised content over live networked content any day.

I agree. I think they have a local afternoon show as well; I’d imagine similarly VT’d.

I wonder if Noosa business see any value in advertising on the Noosa sea/mix frequency. You can pick up the Maroochydore frequencies just fine in Noosa.

Does SeaFM Sunshine Coast still take any other Hit Network programming? Carrie & Tommy, etc?

What does the GSL owned Sea Sunny Coast usually air in that slot? @hitmachine ?

I do appreciate the legacy of EON & now GSL for the huge amount of local programming on 91.9 and 92.7, the effort of local music scheduling is what radio should be. Researched (hopefully) and programmed for the market and no other.

Based on the ratings, it would seem like the locals disagree.

I believe it was just music.

Sea have lost allot of good talent and the music of a morning on both sea and hot is one big hot mess so I’d be very surprised if ratings were good.

From Radioinfo:

In further evidence of Super Radio Network’s principals Despina Priala and George Caralis‘s forward momentum, the siblings have have been appointed to the Board of Directors of Coastal Broadcasters Pty Ltd.

Coastal Broadcasters have radio stations covering most of tropical north Queensland through 4AM, 4KZ, Kool-FM and KIK-FM, an area larger than Victoria. The late Bill Caralis bought Alice Springs Commercial Broadcasters in 2021, and with that 49% of the Coastal Broadcasters stations too.

I’m intrigued with this comment:

“innovative programming being rolled out through Super Radio Network in 2025.”

End of an era for Mix FM Sunshine Coast, as long-time breakfast presenter, Caroline Hutchinson, announced this morning that she’s leaving the station at the end of the year.

Storms this arvo might have wrecked some havoc in the Blue Mountains.

Move 99.5 and 2LT 101.1 both broadcasting dead air, 2BLU and CADA still on air however.

Is it just me or do Move and 2LT seem to go off air a lot during storms. Storms smashed through Brisbane tonight (and quite a few nights in the last week) and nothing was off air here from what I could tell.

Intriguing and amusing. Rod knows how to talk the sales lines. Whether the straight shooting (some literally, this intergenerational Katter country) FNQ clients agree is another matter.

The appointment of Despina and George would be in line with the death of Bill & Pam, all to be expected.

Hopefully the other 51% of Coastal Broadcasters remain independent. Diversity of ownership of radio assets is at its most consolidated in 2024.

Lithgow, Mandurah and Nambour would have to be the last markets with genuinely independent duos.

Sounds like something you would get from a nearby FM car transmitter, and sometimes even from a pirate radio station…

Yes they have lots of problems at that site with storm damage. The Wentworth Falls tower is a lightning magnet and gets struck quite frequently. The transmitters survive the strikes but the NBN connections providing the STL links from Lithgow to Wentworth Falls gets knocked out. On one occasion the NBN connections got fried after a massive strike resulting in the services being off air for quite some time.

CADA has a fibre link to Wentworth Falls for their STL and a microwave backup from Artarmon if the fibre link gets taken out by lightning.
Unfortunately for 2LT / Move fm they are unable to run a microwave link from Lithgow to Wentworth Falls so they have to rely on the NBN STL which delivers the sub par audio.
