Regional Radio (non-SCA)

Hows the stereo on 2bs fm? Its interesting Brock is not on 99.1 to follow the same pattern as 95.1. I dont think 2bs could be 95.3 for obvious reasons.

Nah it’s near Lalor Park near the shops just out from Blacktown, but I may check the other spot as 95.1 can be difficult at times. Just keep an eye out for a creepy dude sitting in a car fiddling with a radio and you might just see me. :joy:

Near the water tower at Acacia Gardens is the highest spot in the area 90m it has excellent LOS to the north, west and south.
Great for Lithgow, Bathurst, Goulburn, Orange and Wollongong.

With inland ducting you can often receive Tamworth nationals, Canberra.

Move, 2LT Blue Mtns translators not received via second tuner in the radio list just before Valley Heights BP, gone unlistenable signal soon after, drops off very quickly.

Rubbish reception in Glenbrook, suffering from foothills syndrome.

Low bit rate IP link sound of 99.5, it does sound in or very close to in sync with 107.9 which is suffering co channel from Cenn Cruiach national service.

Yes, they are complying with local news obligations, well spoken older gentleman on after midday first block of 2GB news on 2LT aka 2GB Lithgow.

Signal of AM 900 is susceptible to EMF within building in Lithgow. 2BS 95.1 aka 2GB Bathurst being on mono is easily received without telescopic aerial extended on handheld radios. I guess this is how they’re dealing with their unequal specs to B Rock. That and the 75% or more relay of talk programming from 2GB.

No RDS on any of the above mentioned services. Shame.

Credit for the weather included a promo for John Kerr’s New Day Australia, ring after midnight 13 13 32. John retired years ago to the Gold Coast and presents country for the fun of it on 94.1, the GC TCBL.

Was an SCA station, one of their earliest via original regional predecessor Sea FM Ltd. Divested due to the SC/Austereo merger to EON Broadcasting.

It’s likely the existing ‘fill in’ is continuing for the medium term, has done so before, is known to the audience.

91.9 SeaFM is doing some kind of “BarRat’s Summer Break” whatever that means.

Bar Rat is Adam Barrett, their breakfast host. You don’t remember the Bar Rat on other stations?

I do remember BarRat - I was simply stating that the station is doing BarRat’s Summer Break. Answering the question re: who is replacing Jess Eva.

I think Sunshine Coast has some great choices for radio.

Between Hot91, Zinc96, SeaFM, MixFM and Salt106.5 it’s pretty good. And best of all no BOG FM.

There’s also 104.9 Sunshine FM, which plays “More Music, More Memories, More Often”.
Here’s their playlist: https://onlineradiobox.com/au/sunshine1049/playlist/

They also have 4GY on FM107 in the northern Sunshine Coast. Lots of over spill from Brisbane FM and 4KQ in the south. In fact during the day 4KQ has great reception on AM.

…take SCA (sort of) out of the market and you get local drive shows on Zinc96 and MixFM too!

Another radio person with reality TV in their career.

Heidi Latcham replaces Jess Eva (now on 2MMM who was on The Block in 2018 was it?)

https://radioinfo.com.au/news/heidi-latcham-joining-919-sea-fm

Radioinfo’s article reports that Heidi had been on Townsville’s Star 106.3. When I went to search when that was, the search results returns an avalanche of Married at First Sight entertainment reports, this being the first one for example:

Would be nice to see people employed for their on air talent first and foremost instead of willingness to be on reality TV.

She probably got on radio on her merits but the promotion may have only came about as a result of this show. So many of the contestants go on to get bigger profiles and for me they’re the turn offs. I know it might be easier to produce them but seriously authentic people with no motivation to be famous are better to watch.

Heidi was on Star 106.3 from May 2017 until about mid-2018 when she left due to the filming of MAFS. She’s originally from the Sunshine Coast and has also worked for Hot 91 in the past. Given that the show is only just airing, and her profile from it is still limited, I dare say that this appointed is based on her radio talent more than the TV show (though I’m sure management are hoping that her profile will increase from the show).

Certain of that, considering the calibre of applicants for the position.

Better long term for Sea FM to find long term talent to pair with Bar Rat for consistency to build a following, especially with Ronnie back as programming competition at Hot.

Streaming 8HA this afternoon, and thought their national news bed sounded familiar!
