> The ABC is delighted to announce that production is commencing on **Recipe of the Year** , a heartfelt new cooking competition series hosted by renowned cook **Adam Liaw** and critically acclaimed actor and food lover **Pia Miranda**.
>
> Produced by i8 Studio, the series sees home cooks from all different backgrounds and walks of life whisk together the flavours, histories and stories behind the dishes that define them, in a quest to crown Australia’s Recipe of the Year.
>

Their expert judges will feature across the series, bringing a watchful eye, trusted guidance and generous encouragement along the way.
>
> **Host and Executive producer, Adam Liaw said** , “Recipes are more than just a set of instructions. They each tell a story about the people who write them and who cook them, and when a recipe resonates with a lot of people - when it becomes a hit - it reveals a lot about who we all are. I couldn’t be more excited to be joining the search for Australia’s Recipe of the Year!”
>
> **Host, Pia Miranda** **said** , “I’m thrilled to be hosting _Recipe of the Year_. It promises to be a warm, lively celebration of our favourite food traditions, and I can’t wait to taste the incredible recipes on offer. We’re set to discover dishes that truly reflect the richness and diversity of Australia today, while meeting some wonderful people along the way.”
>
> **ABC’s Head of Entertainment, Rachel Millar said** , “_Recipe of the Year_ is a warm hug of a show celebrating the diverse voices of our delicious culinary landscape. Bringing together home cooks, Adam, Pia and the CWA, it feels like a hopeful snapshot of Australia today, told through the food on our tables. Looks like a good light-hearted cooking show for the network. And Adam Liaw “gets a promotion” to the ABC for this. Him, and Pia Miranda, are both likeable, so they are good choices as host.

I reckon this will be broadcast on the Sunday night after the news slot that The Assembly, The Piano and Portrait Artist of the Year occupy. It’s like the ABC’s reality slot.

> The ABC is bringing Australians together around the kitchen table with **Recipe of the Year** , a heart-warming cooking competition hosted by beloved cook **Adam Liaw** and acclaimed actor and food lover **Pia Miranda** , premiering **Sunday 11 October at 7.30pm on ABC TV and ABC iview.**
>
> Set on a picturesque country farm, the seven-part series sees home cooks compete for the ultimate title: Australia’s Recipe of the Year. From family recipes shaped by culture and passed down through generations, to ingeniously simple weeknight winners that will put a smile on everyone’s face, _Recipe of the Year_ celebrates the stories and flavours that make up Australia today.
>
> At the heart of the competition is the **Country Women’s Association** (CWA), bringing generations of cooking wisdom. The home cooks face the formidable CWA judges each week, tackling classic CWA recipes from scones to jam rolls in the hope of winning a coveted CWA ribbon.
>
> The home cooks bring a delicious mix of traditions, cultures and cooking styles, including a 19-year-old cannoli entrepreneur, a Sydney builder whose mother’s food provided comfort during wartime, a teacher reconnecting with her late mum through treasured family recipes, and a Malaysian-born home cook sharing the flavours of home with international students.
>
> But this is no ordinary cooking competition. Recipes are made to be shared, and each week the home cooks, hosts, and the CWA gather around the table where everyone has a say in which recipe comes out on top. Forget the pressure and the pretension. This is home cooking at its best: relatable recipes, inspiring cooks, and stories and recipes that bring Australians together.

Excerpt from the Stellar article

> The ABC describes the series as “a warm hug of a show”, and Miranda – a deeply passionate foodie whose memoir ends on a list of the 12 foods and drinks she loves most – couldn’t sound more delighted about her time as co-host.
>
> “It was one of those experiences where, when you’re in it, you wonder if you’ll get something so good again,” she explains.
>
> “I was there as a lover of food but also as somebody who understands the mix between two cultures, and how that reflects in the way I cook and how I cook. I got to celebrate my Italian side as much as I did my Australian side.
>
> “And even though I wasn’t there as an expert,” she continues, “Adam would laugh at me. “Because I’m like that. I would get really, really bossy about those pasta dishes.”

**SUNDAY 8 NOVEMBER 7:30PM**

> It’s time to fire up the BBQ as the 7 remaining home cooks head outside to create their best BBQ recipes, as judged by front-line volunteers of the SES. Across the episode, they take on both a classic CWA recipe and their own barbecue favourites, where smoke, timing, bold flavour and crowd-pleasing instincts all matter. As the farm fills with the smell of the grill and a hungry crowd gathers to taste and vote, the pressure rises. By the end of the day, one home cook will leave the farm.
