Ratings: Nine narrowly wins Wednesday as The Bachelorette launches to 628,000 metro viewers

The Nine Network had a narrow win in Wednesday’s overnight ratings just 0.4% ahead of Seven while 10 posted its best Wednesday share for eight weeks with the launch of the new season of The Bachelorette.

Nine won the three east coast markets while Seven won Adelaide and Perth.

The results in 25-54 saw a win to 10 with 28.8% ahead of Nine (26.9%), Seven (23.7%), ABC (14.4%) and SBS (6.2%).

In 16-39 the results were 10 (33.1%), Nine (24.4%), Seven (24.0%), ABC (13.5%) and SBS (5.0%)

The Block again won at 7.30pm but lost some momentum across the week – down 140,000 from Tuesday. That was largely due to the premiere of The Bachelorette that drew 628,000 and won the key demographic groups. That was down from 717,000 the previous year and is the lowest launch of the franchise so far (2018 had 631,000).

ABC’s line-up also took a hit, Hard Quiz slipped 60,000 with the network down 2 points week-on-week. Planet America again made the top 20 in a good result for a 9.30pm program.

In Brisbane, 10 News First posted its lowest weekday rating of the year with 39,000 watching 5-6pm. That contrasted with Melbourne (129,000) where the bulletin had its highest Wednesday audience since July and Perth (66,000) that again outrated Nine News at 6pm.

Seven’s movie and Nine’s Australian Crime Stories also made the top 20.
