Ratings: Nine continues Monday ratings winning streak; tight race at breakfast

It was another Monday win for the Nine Network last night; its 15th straight for the 2020 survey; as Nine’s Today show also performed well with its best result relative to Sunrise for the survey.

Today’s audience was 234,000, its highest since 22 April and less than 29,000 behind Sunrise on 263,000 (lowest since 10 March). The margin was the closet of the ratings survey. Meanwhile ABC’s News Breakfast had 213,000.

In prime-time, Nine’s network share was down slightly while Seven and 10 posted small gains. For 10 it was enough to post their highest Monday share of this year’s survey. Nine won along the east coast with Seven ahead in Adelaide and Perth while in Melbourne 10 ranked second.

10 was the highest rated network in the key demographic groups. In 25-54, 10 had 30.6% ahead of Nine on 24.3%, Seven 22.4%, ABC 12.8% and SBS 6.7%. 10’s main channel was the top rated 25-54 channel while 10 Peach topped the multichannels.

The 16-39 age bracket result saw 10 on 37.2%, Nine with 24.7%, Seven 21.0%, ABC 10.8% and SBS 6.3%. 10’s main channel was the top rated 16-39 channel with 29.3% while 10 Peach topped the multichannels with 4.3%.

The 7.30pm reality battle saw similar results to usual with The Voice just ahead of MasterChef while House Rules landed in fourth place behind ABC’s line up of 7.30 and Australian Story . Have You Been Paying Attention? was then well in front in the next timeslot. Nine’s Whitney: Can I Be Me? had 402,000 with 9-1-1 on Seven with 363,000.

10’s MasterChef - HYBPA double dominated the demographic results. Kinne Tonight that followed was also a winner for the network rating higher in the demographic groups than House Rules.

ABC’s best number this Monday again came from Australian Story with the mid season final drawing 715,000, well up from the previous week. Four Corners, and Media Watch that followed, however, rated lower week-on-week.

Outside the top 20.
