There was good news for Australian drama in Wednesday night’s TV ratings as 10’s The Secrets She Keeps continued to grow its audience and record a season high 550,000 metro viewers for the season final.
Overall, Wednesday was a big night for 10 with the network posting its equal highest Wednesday share since January 2017. 10 had the highest rated primary channel but with the addition of multichannels Seven won the night with 26.5% ahead of 10’s 25.6% and Nine on 24.2%.
10 won in Melbourne, Nine won Brisbane with Seven ahead in the other markets.
In the battle for key advertising demographic groups, 10 led 25-54 with 33.0% of the audience ahead of Nine with 25.1%, Seven on 23.2%, ABC’s 12.6% and SBS on 6.2%.
In 16-39, the 10 Network secured a 37.3% audience share ahead of second placed Seven with 23.2%. Nine had 21.1%, ABC 12.4% and SBS 5.9%.
MasterChef was the top entertainment show on Wednesday recording its biggest audience in four weeks while the program also topped the younger demographic groups.
Britain’s Got Talent on Seven at 7.30 and Paramedics at 8.30 on Nine were down from last week while Nine’s 7.30 factual Taronga: Who’s Who In The Zoo improved. Later, double episodes of The Bodyguard were down up to 80,000 from last week.
10’s gain was largely at the expense of public broadcasters with ABC posting its lowest Wednesday share since February as The Weekly and Julia Zemiro’s Home Delivery were well down on recent results. Meanwhile, SBS recorded its lowest Wednesday share since March.
