I’ve managed to find the Dancing With the Stars Champion of Champions special that aired in November 2005.

Tom Williams, whose hosting of that year’s season of The Mole was widely panned (if I can say that), went head to head with Home and Away star Ada Nicodemou for the title, winning the respective summer and spring seasons that aired earlier in the year.

Found it! My high school science project from 1986. We had to produce a poster and a booklet to go into more detail. I got an A 
i guess the benchmark was fairly low in those days!!
The booklet was 8 pages. Probably could have trimmed it back, now that i look at it, but maybe i had a word count to maintain haha

Now I remember (and looked up in Wikipedia) that the ABC service was originally called HABCSS (Homestead & Community Broadcast Satellite Service). It consisted of ABC TV and several ABC radio stations.

I saw a few ads in the ‘Courier Mail’ in 1982 with ‘We’re Doing It For You’ (this was in the lead up to the Commonwealth Games held in Brisbane that year).

It was news when Nine scored rights to the Brisbane Commonwealth Games, but with ABC as host broadcaster it appears Nine’s coverage was little more than a couple of one-hour highlights packages each day? Might have been a bit of a ratings sugar-hit if they were breaking into regular programming with live coverage of swimming events, but I am not sure if it was really worth the bother? From memory, the “prime time” highlights packages were shown (in Melbourne, at least) at 5.00pm and 11.00pm.

You’re right.. Nine only had 1-1.5 hour highlights in Brisbane before the 6pm news and again late at night (for the first few days at least), as below.

I love how Nine’s Family Feud was on BTQ7 and Seven’s Shirl’s Neighbourhood was on QTQ9. I read somewhere that QTQ9 was under the same ownership as ATN7 (Fairfax) and that explains that particular abnormality?

Possibly the same reason why Sounds from ATN was, for a time, seen on QTQ in Brisbane.
Program supply arrangements were a lot looser in those days, sometimes crossing network boundaries
