Talk about a real dog… here’s a random episode of Seven’s 2002 game show stinker Dog Eat Dog. Lasted two episodes Friday 7.30pm before being yanked off until summer. You can kinda see why. Pity the host Simone Kessell, who someone at Seven must have hated - her other credit for them was Thorpey’s Undercover Angels - another stinker. Although the game premise itself wasn’t horrible, it felt like it was trying to play off the supposed meanness of The Weakest Link, only more so (sounds like the BBC were looking for that as the chronology of the original UK versions of both were similar), and I dunno, the mood of it felt really off after a year or so of that game. ---

Even though it’s still reading without a teleprompter, it definitely looks chalk-and-cheese (in a positive way) compared to the old-school slide deck backgrounds in those 1979 tapes floating around YouTube. The only unfortunate thing is it didn’t change a heck of a lot from this in presentation in the following 30 years… ---
