I think it was
Mine was 1996. I’m coming up to 30 years with the same phone number. Have been with Optus (either directly or via Virgin Mobile) the whole time though that time might be running out. They’ve just inflicted one price hike too many!
Mine’s always been on Telstra. It was mostly on pre-paid. Only switched to post paid from about 2017.
At the time i dealt with Telstra for work, often frustratingly. So, not to be petty of course, but i pledged i wouldn’t get Telstra for my mobile. ![]()
I’ve been with Telstra since I had my first prepaid phone, a Sagem MY C5-2 in 2006.
My new burner phone is with Woolworths, but only because they were selling a 180 expiry pack for $90 instead of $130. And they’re on Telstra too.
I hate the idea of getting my phone onto Telstra (and Woolworths) but am considering it. $36 a month is better than the $60 optus is charging now.
The only reason I am with Woolworths was because they had the 180 day expiry packs on sale for $90. Gives me six months to find a better deal. The phone is unlocked.
The only reason I am paying obscene amounts to Telstra is the coverage.
I’ve had a mobile phone since 2008, and had been with two telcos (Virgin Mobile and Optus) before switching to Vodafone in 2020.
I’ve also had six different iPhones dating back to 2012 (3GS, 5, 6, X, 13 and now 15). No plans to upgrade at this time.
Given that its most likely going to get a price raise for the new Iphones this year, I am staying with my trusty 15 pro ![]()
I started regularly using a phone in 2007 with my own number. Before that I would borrow my parents’ phones or had what I guess would be considered burners. The number was initially a Telstra prepaid but moved across to Optus when I got a postpaid plan and bought a Samsung Galaxy S2.
When I moved to the States I kept the number as an eSim on my phone, but it was costing me $50 a month and I was only ever getting spam calls so I got rid of it. It was sad to ditch the number I’d had for 18 years, but at that stage the primary motivation for keeping the number was expensive nostalgia.
Has anyone just had the sudden urge to randomly yell out something inapporirate in an office-style environment? I wanna yell out rude words in the office to break the montony of the boredom epidemic it generates.
As mentioned on The Front Bar tonight.
It’s 32 years since I first started teaching myself how to use a video camera, now my teenage dream of shooting a news story has finally been realised! It’s only Win News but beggars can’t be choosers! ![]()
