I applied for a job I saw on LinkedIn,I didn’t expect to hear back but I have an interview with an employment agency tomorrow.I had to do the usual ,fill out details online ,previous employment ,health conditions, etc .I had to be truthful and mention my anxiety ,sore lower back and knee arthritis. This will probably go against me but if they can find me a suitable part time /casual position I’ll take it.I might have to work again ,preferably part time if I’m able to ,so I don’t run out of money in the future ![]()
Later on I’ll try to get a reference from one of the girls in the RSPCA volunteer office as I wasn’t game to ask for one when I left my last paid job in August,2022.,since I was in a lot of trouble before I left ,too many days off and getting cranky at work, partly from pain in my lower back, mainly because I was unhappy in my last few years there.
A groping and sex tax every night at my place!

I need to do a GIF of this…
Also, this is not an invitation to come around to my joint for the worst 2 minutes of your life. ![]()
Not sure I would have mentioned anything about mental health issues. I think in a field work for employment agencies and clients you would need to be of sound and mind. If what you said happened at the volunteer work place that left you burnt out and stressed, imagine what a place like working at employment agency would do to you for your mental health.
The only reason I say this because I worked for an unemployment agency for a while and at the time it was very stressful because I was working with the beligerate and dole bludgers who would find everything under the sun as an excuse not to look for work. Sales targets were hard as. I was getting stressed out towards the end of my contract and didn’t go back. Dealing with aggression from clients and then not meeting key performance indicators to what they wanted was just stressful.
But good luck though. But just going for an interview is always good. Hopefully you will find something that is within your capacity.
It’s not my volunteering at the RSPCA that stresses me.It was at my last paid job in a factory where I worked for 29 years.(I left there in August 2022) I felt they were putting too much pressure on us and as my lower back and problem knees got worse in that time,( in the last couple of years before I resigned) I had no choice but to leave. Of course I was a very good employee in my early days there at this company , I was a lot younger and wasn’t in any pain and wasn’t very stressed back then either ![]()
That sucks . Sorry I missed read your post . Hopefully you can find something you enjoy though.
As much as I enjoy working as a volunteer for the RSPCA,I really need to earn some money sooner or later,Centrelink allows you to earn so much money before they reduce your payments.
I have a neighbour who has a part time job (20 hours a week)and still receives some income from Centrelink also
That’s good are you with one of those employment agencies they shaft centrelink people to supposedly help look for work? I am not sure if there are many still around.
These things are everywhere. Sometimes there not that obvious.
Those places are a scam and a waste of taxpayer dollars, another shitty deal Howard made to benefit operators of these businesses over the actual needs of job seekers.
Yep. I’ve had my fair share of that, and to be honest, the ones I dealt with weren’t too bad, they did pay for some work clothes (two pairs of jeans and some work boots), but on the whole they were useless.
I’m not at the moment,or my former caseworker hasn’t been in touch with me for a while.
When I last did my online reporting for Centrelink I was asked if I’m going to continue with my volunteering commitments ,I said yes.
I’m someone that any employment agency will find it hard to place into another job because of my lack of experience in anything except manufacturing jobs which I’m too old and unfit for now🙁
I really need to apply for DSP as soon as I can.
Yep. I’m going through it at the moment at I must say I agree with you lol. Its not to bad if the participant puts alot of effort in but in the end for the amount of money there getting there not doing a lot.
100%. had a period after uni finished before my grad role started where i had to go on the dole. I had to sign up to one of those leeches and when i started my grad role they hounded me to send in payslips and details of my employer so they can claim a bonus for getting me in a job - i job i got on my own before i even signed with them,
The last few days I’ve had a sore shoulder so I’ve been unable to complete all my required hours this fortnight. Its a fact ,I’m not young anymore so I won’t always be able to do all of them .Some days recently it’s been the heat that’s caused me not to feel 100%.
I’ll try to get an exception and maybe do less hours for now before I apply (and probably get knocked back
)for the DSP.
That’s why when I go for a short break I can’t stay away for more than a week so I can still work my volunteer hours.
I might be ok after I’ve had a few days break from volunteering.Sometimes even on very hot days I try to do too much especially if I’m working by myself in the laundry room.On weekdays there’s someone there to help me.
I also need to let someone in the wildlife hospital know I’m available to drive for them from next week.
I haven’t done any driving since before Xmas.
I signed up for a shift this Friday the day I return home,to make up for missing too many shifts lately, hope I’m not too tired, but I’ll feel better with myself if I do,and maybe do some extra shifts the next fortnight too .
I feel this video is more like home video recordings of @Radiohead dancing and ranting. ![]()
Oh I’ve been sprung in my green leotard! ![]()
I’d be more worried about your Denim and Lace routine Mr Rumpton. ![]()
Now that the AO is almost over, would also like to point out that it’s also been a year since someone has complained about a news bulletin being cut down due to a sporting event
I like to pay attention to what TV brands are being used at public exhibits in Canberra:
- At the National Zoo and Aquarium, the aquarium has a mix of small Kogan/Roku, Samsung and TEAC-branded TVs.
- At the National Dinosaur Museum, the TVs used are from budget brands like FFalcon, EKO and Soniq.
