Love these. A couple of things I noticed from these:
Would be great to see any early StarFm IDās.
From memory when Star Bendigo was launched they use to have a sweep saying person x plays today best music on 91.9 Star Fmā¦
Thatās (Ray McGregor I think?) the same voice over person also used on many other FMs across the nation at the timeā¦ including 2DAY FM, NEW FM Newcastle and ROX FM Port Macquarie.
But by the time the mid 1990s rolled around, most of those stations moved to another voice over guy with a softer voice, I donāt know who that was, but havenāt heard any air checks for those online.
I remembered It had a modern sound to it during weekdays and on weekends the format was a lot older. On the weekends, they used the slogan āThe Best Songs of All Times.
This was just before FM99.7 launched.
Quite likely, would have probably done the VO work for Truck Radio, Saturday Night Open House Party and Nightzone around the same time (1995-96).

Change of the VO station ID for FM93
Still looking for the āNew FM93ā VOs.
93.1 StarFM, 93 minute music marathon was a carry over from the FM93, later became the Happy Hour on all StarFM stations.
More FM93 era
More early StarFM
One insteresting thing I found, was that Riverina Broadcasters Holdings Pty. Ltd.
was partly owned by KZFM Radio Pty. Ltd. (until it went into receivership) and then the Roberts Estate sold its half to Griffith based BMG (later purchased by DMG) in August 1995.

For anyone in Brisbane who listened to Radio/Stereo 10 in the 80s(I did) thereās a Facebook post about their 40th anniversary this year. I donāt know how to include the link but thereās some old photos of former announcers and staff members ,and check out the 80s fashionsš
Put me in a Time Machine and send me back to the 80s please.
Yep, saw that, it was great to look back on those days.
Yes thatās the Facebook linkšthanks
Now I know what some of the announcers looked like after all these years.Obviously there was no internet back then so you couldnāt look up radio stations online on their websites like today,
I gotta admit I was a huge fan of Royce Simmons.
But seeing this made me think of when radio stations have sponsored sporting teams. Back in the day I remember 2WS maybe being a sleeve sponsor of the Eels. But is that it? Are there any other radio station sponsorships of teams?
In rugby I think MORE FM were shorts sponsors of a few franchises.
But in footy?
I think Triple M were minor sponsors of the Broncos, with logos on their training outfits, but not on their jerseys.
2GB were with the Magpies in the 1990s.
Lots of great memories of 2KA in the 80ās - and all the Penrith games were called on 2KA for many years by Frank Ley. I do remember the games were continued to be called on air each week by Brian Sanders (Sando) after Frank retired, when 2KA converted to 96.1FM, but didnāt last too much longer after that. Does anyone know when 96.1 stopped calling the Penrith games?
1993 was the last year that One FM did the Panthers games. On a side note, Hawkesbury Radio in Windsor continued the Panthers NRL coverage from about 1997-2009.
Pardon me if someone upload this before, but were these original Star FM logo when DMG first introduce it?
I found these when randomly googling, and itās in PNG transparent (there is even a version in SVG transparent, but I canāt open it). Perhaps this is the only trace of the original Star FM logo that I can find on the internet.
I recall them being blue and yellow. Iāve never seen this orange version of the logo. I wonder if this was the first version?
This logo here looks to be for Dubbo (now 93.5 Triple M Dubbo).
Thanks for thatā¦ I knew it wasnāt long after the FM conversion.
Now that you mention it, I do now remember Hawkesbury Radio calling the games in the late 90ās, and did listen occasionally - they were very good calls.
I think there were two versions, the orange/white and yellow/blue.
I have a bumper sticker in storage somewhere, Iāll find it some time when Iām over the flu/cold.
Yes, 93.5 was Dubbo. From time to time I could pick-up a weak signal when there was a dx event. Remember picking up 94.9 PowerFM in the 2000s, was as if it was a local signal but only lasted for a short time.
