I think triple j is taking RDS RT from the wrong station again ![]()
RDS is from KIIS 90s
I have updated the name of 96FM.png logo to GOLD96FM.png to reflect the RDS change. This has resolved the hit and miss loading of the logo I was getting on my webservers when on 96.1 as the logo name has to match the RDS to work correctly I suspect I might have to do the same for 102.9 and 104.5 when they finally start full time transition.
I normally donât have this issue but a couple of times the logos wonât load or are spasmodic and changing the file name fixes it.
If you are seeing issues with RDS decode on my 2nd South server this may be due partially to the direction the antenna is pointing, if pointed south east it is 75deg south of the Perth main Tx site in Bickley and besides signal reduction there could be reflection occurring causing data or RDS issue. Not always the cause but may contribute to the problem
If the antenna is pointed in another direction I will put it in the rolling text message at the top
Giving BBC radio 2 vibes lol
Jesus, id be interested in this if u can DM me what happened so I dont make the same mistake on the stations I help out. I will keep it confidential.
Id listen to JJJ more if this was the regular mix!
Sounds about right.. as the radio notices the change of PS (Group 0A/B sent every 1/4, 1/2 sec) it sends that data to the CANBUS for display on the dash. Busying the CANBUS could cause a heap of problems with the cars engine management.
It was illegal in some Europe countries in the early 2000âs as it deemed to be a distraction to the driver.
If you find yourself setting up some RDS.. Dont be a numpty and put Dynamic PS on it⌠Just DONT
Not sure there was any messing around, as no settings had been changed.
I asked the local team to reboot the encoders at the active site this afternoon, hopefully thatâs resolved it.
Oh have u been to America? Holy freaking hell everything scrolls
Never knew this was a PTY code, could see it being useful for emergency broadcasting if more receivers displayed them.
The tunnels in Brisbane use 31 for the notifications from tunnel control. Saw it on Nova before moving away in the car. Red screen and all
The PI code for 95.7 ABC Classic Illawara has changed from 205A to 235A.
This follows on from 98.9 Triple J Illawara changing the 2nd digit of its PI code, such that itâs now: 2323.
The significance of the second digit of the PI code:-
3 - Supra-regional (The same program is transmitted throughout a large part of the country.)
Song and program names were appearing on Triple J Illawarra RDS for the first time Thursday and Friday. Instead of just âwe love musicâ. Havenât checked this weekend on my own radio, but looks like itâs back to âwe love musicâ this morning on FM-DX.
Thank you for mentioning that. I saw that last night (Sat evening) for the first time on the car radio & thought: âhello thatâs newâ. Iâd forgotten to mention it.
Yes back to the usual âwe love musicâ today, but I canât help but think thereâs some small incremental RDS developments being rolled out systematically by the ABC, at least with ABC Illawara stations (ref PI code changes) & thereâs some folk noting more higher power ABC FM stations audio feeds being syncâed in recent times.
BA and ABC are looking at a gradual roll out of RDS been switched on and having Song/Artist to sites that have the appropriate RDS capable equipment
Its interesting who might be driving that from an internal side ![]()
..
On an unrelated note, why is there a cake next to my user name?
Must be your anniversary of site membership. I had my cake just before New Years (and I ate it too. Delicious). Enjoy.
Good to know, be interested to know how theyâre getting that info out as metro sites have relied on DAB for that info, which of course doesnât exist in the regional areas.
I am lead to believe me been a constant pain in the arse has helped drive it a little
UCEP server from ABC with the relevant information injected into the RDS capable equipment
Great to hear! Will this be Australia wide or just in QLD or NSW like in the past?
