They keep touting this Sunshine station upgrade as more important before building it. Like, if they realised how important it was, why didnât they upgrade it when they were at their peak? If they spent less time on level crossing removals and worked on this theyâd have electrified the Melton Line and built the Airport Rail by now.
I always thought the rail was held off over all these years due to dodgy shit going on out back to keep the Skybus and Airport Parking monopoly schemes going.
Reeks of corruption under the hood around this whole airport rail thing. I think corruption in Victoria is just so far lost that even Labor doesnât even know whatâs going on or who is pulling the strings within industry.
Andrews and Allan might face hearings in the coming years but they probably donât even know half the shit that was going on. Thatâs how sad it is in Victoria these days, I donât think any government can dig themselves out of this mess.
It was de-scoped from the Metro Tunnel project - the majority of the works should already have been delivered. Think some of the plans around Albion and Tottenham have since changed again but even so.
The fact of the matter is that current Vic State bureaucracy at the top level is full of incompetent sycophants of Jacinta and Danâs Socialist Left faction of the ALP.
The first thing a new Govt should do is clean out all these executive and board level clowns. Mid-management is pretty fed up with them fwiw, given a whole lot of competing organisations/authorities were created within the bureaucracy, and all they do is fight for power and money. Morale is rock bottom.
Theyâre a several months late with the announcement arenât they? IIRC these were implemented a while ago
The last K-set service marks the final chapter of Sydneyâs stainless-steel suburban train fleets. From the introduction of the first S-set in 1972 to the retirement of the last K-set this week, the silver trains have been a defining feature of the cityâs railway for more than half a century.
Thatâs a real shame, certainly iconic and stainless would last forever, pity they canât just refit the interior and whatever else they need and keep them going.
Much like cars, as trains get older it costs more to keep them running. Parts also become harder to obtain or they need to be fabricated specially which is also more pricey. Think of an 80s Falcon vs a modern Mustang.
Using the existing trains to create a new train, like the Vivarail D-Train made from retired London Underground trains, also requires those trains to be fully withdrawn for extensive rebuilding, which the network may not be able to cope with.
Theyâve been taking lessons from the NSW government.
Tallawong is overflowing daily.
same in brisbane. ive gotten to the point where iâm driving to work rather than ghetting to the train station and finding it full
Completely predictable. Bus services arenât aligned at all.
Incidentally, SRL TBMs are well and truly on the move between Burwood and Glen Waverley.
I canât see the project being cancelled now. Perhaps just slowed down with some renegotiated contracts, even with a new Govt.
From Tuesday, 13 October, all concession holders will be able to pay for their journey using a bank card, smartphone or smartwatch across Victoria.
They really need to fix the final gap and switch to automatic weekly/monthly caps instead of the myki pass system.
