Seven News (Regional Vic/NSW/ACT/WA)

Looks as bland as the set

Black on a grey-ish background (the “NEWS” part of the logo) doesn’t really work IMO.

Speaking of which, can we agree that the logo(s) used for Prime7/GWN7 Local News are pretty much the worst Australian TV has to offer? Would look so much nicer if they used Seven News’ logo font for the text and adjusted the Prime7 logo to remove that awkward red bar.

Time for Prime to hire a new graphic designer. I’ve seen their designer’s portfolio, and can say it is amateur at best. The guy is very much stuck in the 90’s using amateur PS tools.

First and foremost, the Prime7/GWN7 logos need to be tweaked so that the Prime/GWN text size is the same vertically as the 7 logo. In the case of GWN, get rid of that ghastly Arial font and perhaps try Seven’s font for the “LOCAL NEWS” text.

But to the news graphics themselves. If it’s allowed under the affiliation agreement, Prime7/GWN7 Local News really should just be using the exact same graphics package as Seven News but with the relevant tweaks (eg, their own logos & presenter headshots, etc.).

Since the general channel On-Air Presentation is reasonably professional looking for the most part due to basically using a version of Seven’s look with the Prime7/GWN7 logo, they may as well adopt a similar philosophy for news branding.

I really struggle with the fact that both stations looked better 25 years ago. With the technology available today why does it look so ghastly?

Prime’s graphics remind me of the iMovie Newscast template.

For what felt like the longest time in the early 2000s, commercials produced by Prime would use the same bold solid white Impact font with shitty stock music. They never have been graphic trailblazers with their productions.

No wide shots tonight just the two person and one person shot and weather was greenscreened

Years that Prime7 (Local) News has had major branding changes in so far this decade: 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017.

Now am I being overly optimistic here, or is the pattern going to continue in 2019?

Did anyone see what happened for prime7 news at 6:30? And did that use the second set up like always or was it green screened

There looks to be somthing different with the prime7 news back drop it makes me think there in the other studio

Someone mentioned it’s green screened (?) because they are cleaning out the regular studio.

I was only wondering that if 6:30 was greenscreened since it looked like the 6pm is done from the same set at 6:30

Its feburary now so i wonder if the clean up will be finished

Regardless of what happens to the On-Air Presentation of Prime7 Local News, I personally hope 2019 is the year we’ll finally see some presenter stability for them after at least five years of fairly regular chopping & changing.

Apologies for the double post, but it appears that Prime7 have updated their social media promotional image. Here’s a quick comparison between the old & new:

Would I be right by presuming that the pattern of “odd year” rebrands have continued with some on-air changes made for tonight’s bulletins?

I am not a fan of the graphics, I don’t mind the part where Daniel Gibson introduces stories coming up in the national bulletin though.
