How is anyone who’s only worked in manual labour all their working life supposed to work until they’re 67?
After being retired for 3 years and still a few years away from the aged pension I’ve accepted I’ll never work again and also there’s so many jobs I’m unsuited for.
Due to my physical and mental health limitations
I’m still waiting to see psychiatrist or psychologist to write a report about my mental health because Centrelink don’t believe that I actually have mental illness.,as I’ve never been admitted to a hospital psych ward.I’ve struggled mentally all my life even though I worked for as long as I did.I was recently rejected for DSP because I wasn’t able to provide a report from a mental health professional .
I intend to reapply when I finally get a report from a psychiatrist.
I had to resign as a volunteer at RSPCA QLD in June this year as someone reported me for using bad language .I was getting annoyed by people putting small items(toys and balls from the dog sections) in wheelie bins of dirty laundry and when I emptied a bin to sort out what needed to be dumped or what to wash an item like a tennis ball would go flying out and I thought that could cause serious injury if you tripped over on it.Thats another symptom of my overall mental illness, losing my temper easily,’anger management issues’.I mentioned this issue several times in my volunteer feedback section but nothing was done about this even when I mentioned this was a safety concern, could cause injury to someone.
Since I finished there I’m having difficulty finding enough volunteer hours to fulfill my required 30 hours a fortnight ,I’ve had to see my GP to write me a medical certificate to say I’m unable to do these hours.,due to my mental stress and that I’m still waiting to see a mental health professional.
This has caused me a lot of distress ,recently I emailed the RSPCA
apologising for my behaviour and could I return but they refused to let me come back.
I can only do some types of volunteer jobs also ,definately not any that require too much public contact ,such as working in an op shop for example.
I’ve only found about 6-8 hours volunteering since ,1 or 2 4 hour shifts a week in the Oz Harvest kitchen here in Brisbane and 1 4 hour shift a week at Animal Welfare League QLD on the Gold Coast
I’ve been meaning to say this for a while and i just saw something that reminded me. One of my many pet peeves are people who act high and mighty, i suppose in particular people who say not to-do one thing and then they do it themselves… surely i’m not the only one?!?!
Tenants in my unit block who dump items like old TVs,microwaves or broken furniture outside on the footpath when its not a council special rubbish pickup time ,.I don’t know how many other councils in Australia have a year ,Brisbane City Council don’t have them very often anymore .It used to be certain suburbs got their stuff collected from the footpath in a particular month .,you could look up the councils website to find out when they do your area.or there might be a note in your mailbox.
I know not everyone here has a car and can take these items to a rubbish tip but if they dont they should organise someone with a car or truck to remove it for them .You can find someone on Airtasker for example with a truck who will advertise they can remove rubbish for you ,any large item you want taken to the nearest rubbish tip.
Just because this is Housing Dept unit block, someone here should still care that it doesn’t look too messy from outside ,I guess that’s me for now ,I don’t mind.
Maybe I’ll end up doing it myself ,but the nearest council tip charges you $15 if you’re not a ratepayer .
A neighbour near my place had left a lot of junk on the footpath like an old mattress. I had to walk around the mattress.
I generally don’t like the council pickups as people start to put their junk out on the street days before sometimes weeks and it looks unsightly. Sometimes the council doesn’t collect the rubbish until days after. If it was scheduled for Monday come Thursday there would still be rubbish out on the street
Inner West Council here in Sydney has a system whereby you can book a hard rubbish collection whenever you want and you can do so a few times a year. Which I think is a better system. I since moved a few streets away in a different council area that only has 2 times a year whereby you can put out hard rubbish for collection with everyone else.
Yes, the illegal dumping of household waste etc is really bad these days.
So bad that according to ABC Radio last week, several Victorian councils got together recently to hold a “dumping summit” to tackle the problem.
I like that term, I’m now using it when I need to go to the bathroom and do a number 2 ![]()
I’m not taking any of my neighbours stuff to the rubbish tip especially if it’s something to big and heavy for me to pick up
BCC Kerbside Collection calendar
Morningside and Balmoral isn’t until February next year.
This morning I found a bag of rubbish outside my front door that had split open ,it was obviously from my next door neighbour so
I had to get a broom and sweep up stuff like cigarette ends and food wrappers and a vape container
I shouldn’t picking up his rubbish but I had to as it was right in front of my door.
As I’ve always been a non smoker I hate seeing cigarette ends being dropped everywhere,I think only myself and one other neighbour don’t drink alcohol, smoke cigarettes or vapes or take drugs(except for prescription drugs)
did you tell the neighbour you were picking up his filth??
I should have
Neighbours who don’t recycle their rubbish,or are too lazy to,putting beer cans in the normal rubbish bins or bags of actual rubbish in the recycling bins👎Sometimes if I notice I put stuff in the correct bins
Are these new pet peeves or are we recycling those too? ![]()
I’m noticing this more about my neighbours being too lazy to put their rubbish in the correct bins since I started being the bins person at home
Are you going to give her 10 cents each time she does too?
So many pet peeves. I’m not sure I can afford it.
As long as the bottles are put in the recycle bin I don’t have a problem if someone does not want to collect the 10 cent rebate. But in saying that I don’t think others should go through bins put out on the curve to find the bottles to add to their own stash. If I choose not to return the bottles than that is my choice.
But the only exception to that would be a family with special needs that I take my bottles to not to fund someone’s holiday from other people’s bottles that they have collected.
If it helps someone in need, then yeah i dont mind them taking the recycled bottles. Not worth to condemn someone for something that is not an issue. If you even called the police over it, chances are you will look like a moron.
God says “Go with toad..” ![]()
I don’t care if people go through the bins at the kerb for recyclables, as long as they don’t leave a mess or make noise doing it.
