strong text Due To SEN’s Successful Broadcast Of The Australian Test Tour Of South Africa More Cricket will be Briadcast on 1116 SEN

Is this confirmed? So far it’s been better than Macquarie’s offering bit being an overseas tour it may be significantly different (and rights more expensive) for a domestic summer broadcast.

1116 SEN SECURES RADIO BROADCAST RIGHTS TO THE MASTERS

In an Australian radio first, 1116 SEN has secured the rights to broadcast the famed Masters Tournament from Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia next month.

1116 SEN’s Afternoons presenter and Inside the Ropes host Andy Maher will lead the final two days’ coverage of the Masters as the Tournament reaches its crescendo on the 7th and 8th April. Maher will be joined by Tristan Foenander and Golf Australia’s Mark Hayes and together they will bring all the live action to Australian golf fans.

With a rejuvenated Tiger Woods finding vintage form and top ten-ranked players such as Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler and defending Masters champion Sergio Garcia, alongside Aussies Jason Day and Marc Leishman, this year’s Masters from Augusta National is shaping up to be one of the most exciting ever.

The 1116 SEN live call will be heard locally in Australia on Sunday 8th April with the dramatic last day and all the excitement of the closing holes to be heard on Monday morning, 9th April.

Chief Commercial Officer and General Manager 1116 SEN Sam Bingley said the station had a strong vision to deliver world-class sporting events, live to local audiences.

“This is a watershed moment for us to broadcast one of the most famous golf tournaments in the world and confirms our commitment to bringing the best of live sport from Australia and overseas to Australian fans,” Bingley said.

In partnership with Golf Australia, the 1116 SEN Masters radio coverage can also be streamed live on golf.org.au.

Golf Australia Digital & Communications Director John Sutherland said the news was exciting for Australian fans.

“Live golf is a great radio product and we hope that 1116 SEN’s audience enjoy what promises to be one of the most exciting Masters in history,” Sutherland said.

strong textSEN’s Low Ratings got the better of me Ithink

If you don’t like stations with low ratings, why are you turning to a station rating less than a 1.0 share in Melbourne?

strong text MacQuarIe Sports Radio will gain frOm a fellow Low Rating station SEN will soon rate less the 1 % In Melbourne and MacQuarie Sports will rate More 4 % in Melbourne further sen won’t rate 2% for much longer when MacQuarie S[ports Radio gain the remaining of the SEN Listeners.

PSN should put Classic Rock Radio in the ratings, just so that their overflow station can beat MSR.

SEN done on the cheap and half networked from NSW is not going to beat SEN. It might make a slight dent - but both stations will go up in Melbourne because of TL’s extremely low starting point and the natural boost the footy season starting will cause for SEN.

strong text SEN ARE HOPING AGAINST HOPE THAT MACQUARIESPORTS RADIO DON’T TAKE ALL THEIR LISTENERS WHICH THEY ARE PLANING TO DESPITE ANYTHING SEN WANTS TIOTHINK

Well yes, I’m sure MACQUARIESPORTS RADIO are strong text planning to TAKE ALL THEIR LISTENERS, that’s kind of the point of starting a competing radio station.

They don’t have any hope of doing that unless they are willing to sacrifice the ratings that 3AW get for sports content by shifting the main AFL call over to MSR.

Might is the operative word.

In Melbourne, the audience is established to know for varying reasons to listen to 3AW, 774 or MMM. Or SEN for whatever reason that might be.

Habits take a long time to break and even longer to form.

A wide appeal station such as Hot Tomato struggled for over a decade to reach the top of the ratings in a much smaller market and with significant external marketing in the last eight or so years.

This narrow minded tilt at sport by MRN will have no such appeal nor anything like it in marketing.

I suppose to the extent that they will have listeners at all, they will largely be listeners who would otherwise have listened to SEN.

Plus, there’s still all those listeners in nursing homes whose radios were locked to Magic by a visiting grandchild, and who haven’t visited since to adjust it.
