Jenny comes from a time when being at NZBS & CTV went hand ‘n’ hand.
Ha right you are!
But yes - an NZBS production shown by CTV.
Chris Chang reading 1News tonight.
Simon back tonight.
I know I have had a whinge about the foreign correspondent roles remaining during all the recent cuts but I think the LA fires have been a clear example of how ineffective the roles now are.
Stories and live crosses done by Logan Church have all been done thousands of kilometres away over in New York, they haven’t bothered sending him to LA. Some nights the fire reports have even been voiced by the presenter on the night (Wendy or Chris). Nothing wrong with that of course but it seems pointless having the role if they aren’t covering a major story.
Yeah, I’ve found that a little odd too - I can only assume there is a reason for it otherwise you’d think he’d be there
I imagine they simply can’t afford to send him to LA. Actually I’m a bit surprised they’ve kept the foreign coro roles, when so many other jobs have been cut. Who is the Europe coro these days (if anyone)?
Internal flights in the US even at short notice wouldn’t send TVNZ to the wall, surely.
Mei Heron.
Maybe it was the cost of accommodation that would.
Probably the insurance more than anything else.
Just thought I’d note that Breakfast is not back next week. Must be Feb 3rd
Very late start compared to previous years. Probably a lot easier now there’s no competition to be early to.
Looks like Kim Baker Wilson has left TVNZ. Presumably related to the redundancies announced and pushed through the past two months.
I quite enjoyed his reporting style.
Daniel Faitaua has departed Breakfast with Jenny May and Chris Chang returning to the screens in the AM from February 2025
Daniel’s LinkedIn shows he moved from Breakfast to Seven Sharp as a reporter and producer in January.
Just two presenters now for the three hours?
Would have rather Anna and Chris if anyone. I just don’t see what’s so great about Jenny May
Given theres no direct competitor now I wouldn’t be surprised if in time, the show reduces to two hours.
I also dont get why JMay is there, shes a real turn off for this show, we use to watch it most mornings before heading out the door, but now we listen to Mike Hosking instead
It amazes me how many people work on Seven Sharp, esp. when you consider all the shows that were cancelled last year.
Agreed, especially when it has the same amount of hosts as breakfast now does. I imagine Hilary and Jeremey’s salary outdoes that of Jenny-May and Chris by quite a bit too.
