NZ TV show ideas

Sounds like a bit of a hodge-podge of existing ideas to be honest, like a Sale Of The Century clone. Just not very fresh and modern sorry, maybe try for something a bit newer that’s not been done before?
And why rip off the Nick Junior logo for a game show? seems an odd mix.

Despite the differences in their personalities, the two are magnetic and can’t help but be drawn together. The show follows their love story as they navigate the complications of their relationship while attempting to find common ground.

Both Viv and Steve face their own obstacles and insecurities. Viv, determined to build a successful career as a hotel manager, is petrified of having to move away for work and leaving Steve behind. With her own fears and reservations of committing long-term, she doubts whether Steve is really the one for her. The contestants themselves need to have a wide range of knowledge and be quick thinkers to come out on top.

But it doesn’t end there. Cash Mountain also offers a grand prize for the ultimate winner of the week. If a contestant manages to win all five episodes over five nights, they will not only be leaving the show undefeated but will also drive away with a brand new car, making their victory even sweeter. This adds an extra layer of excitement and motivation for the contestants as they compete to be the ultimate undefeated champion.

Cash Mountain offers a light-hearted escape and a chance to see ordinary Kiwis achieve something extraordinary. With its unique format, intense competition and big rewards, it’s a game show that has brought a fresh and exciting concept to the world of television.

Small Town Blues
In the fictional small town of Mount Aorangi, nestled between Auckland and the Waikato River, a team of dedicated police officers work tirelessly to keep their community safe.

The new drama series, Small Town Blues, delves into the lives of these officers as they navigate the unique challenges of small town policing, where everyone knows each other’s business.

At the heart of the series is Senior Sergeant Trevor Evans, a born and bred Mount Aorangi local who knows the community like the back of his hand. Married with two teenage children, Trevor balances his work and family life with ease but faces numerous challenges as the leader of the police station.

His approach to policing is often at odds with that of Sergeant Simon Harris, a strict officer who has been transferred from Hamilton Central. Simon’s assertive and sometimes arrogant demeanour often clashes with Trevor’s more relaxed approach, leading to tension between the two.

The series also follows the story of Senior Constable Kate McNamara, an experienced and empathetic officer who has worked in various roles throughout her career. Kate is confident and has a strong sense of justice, but faces challenges in the male dominated workplace and struggles with personal relationships.

Joining Kate at the station is probationary Constable Jamie Reid, fresh from the Royal New Zealand Police College in Porirua. Jamie is enthusiastic and eager to prove himself, but his impulsiveness often gets him into trouble.

The team at the Mount Aorangi Police Station are diverse and dynamic, with officers from different cultural backgrounds and with unique perspectives.

Constable Leilani Iosefa, who is of Pacific Island heritage, brings a compassionate and culturally aware approach to her work while Constable Ben Te Wake, a Māori boy from the local community, knows the town and its people well. Ben’s easy going and friendly nature makes him a popular figure in the community, but he sometimes struggles with authority.

The Mount Aorangi CIB (Criminal Investigation Branch) is led by Detective Sergeant Malcolm Williamson, a seasoned investigator with years of experience. Malcolm is wise and experienced, but hides personal demons and faces challenges as a mentor to his team.

Joining Malcolm are Detectives Rahera Stevens and Gordon “Marsh” Marshall, both of whom bring their own unique perspectives to the team. Rahera, a Māori detective, is intelligent and assertive while Marsh, who has been transferred from Auckland Central, is laidback and witty.

Neil Baxter, a junior detective, rounds out the team and is eager to prove himself, but his ambition sometimes comes across as entitlement.

Throughout the series, the officers of the Mount Aorangi Police Station face numerous challenges, from traumatic incidents to personal relationship struggles. But despite their differences, they work together to keep their community safe and to uphold justice in the small town of Mount Aorangi.
