NRL on Nine

Pretty sure they also uploaded the pre/post match for Origin matches as well. Not sure why they didn’t do it during the regular season though (where available)

Correct, Sterlo not involved in commentary for Sharks Roosters.

Every Thursday Night Football, they didn’t have Post match due to NRL Footy Show Leadin. And on Sunday Afternoon Football, they didn’t have the Post match due to lead-in to 6pm news.

That’s why I said “(where available)” because Nine only does a post-game for FNF & the 5 Saturday night games they have

FINALS WEEK 2

Tonight, LIVE at 9.30pm AEST on The Footy Show , host Erin Molan previews the semi-finals alongside former rugby league stars Darren Lockyer and Ryan Girdler . They will cross live to Sharks captain Paul Gallen and chat to the young Panthers squad ahead of their Friday night clash. Rabbitohs star hooker Damien Cook talks about life on and off the footy field, Adam MacDougall joins the panel, and Beau Ryan returns with Thursday to Thursday.

In the 1st Semi-Final at 7.00pm* on Friday, the Sharks take on the Panthers, with a preliminary final spot against the Storm on the line. Penrith’s James Maloney faces off against Cronulla’s Matt Moylan , after the pair famously swapped teams before the season commenced. The Sharks have had the better of Penrith twice this season but are weakened by the loss of key forward Wade Graham with a knee injury.

In the 2nd Semi-Final at 7.00pm *** on Saturday, the Rabbitohs and Dragons enter another sudden-death clash. After narrowly falling to the Storm, the Rabbitohs have a point to prove against a resurgent Dragons outfit which shocked the Broncos. Star St George halfback Ben Hunt will again be under intense scrutiny as he tries to steer his side to victory in the absence of halves partner Gareth Widdop . After scoring the most points in 2018, South Sydney will look to pour on the pressure through stars like Greg Inglis and Dane Gagai, while rampaging Dragons forward Tariq Sims aims to reproduce last week’s heroics against the Broncos.

The inaugural NRLW competition also rolls on following an action-packed and tight first week. The Roosters and Broncos do battle ahead of the 1st NRL Semi-Final, while the Dragons and Warriors go head-to-head before the 2nd Semi-Final.

nine should get rid of phil gould and use jamie soward with rabs and sterlo.

So the women’s NRL is such a big deal that they are bumping the news?

No, the two women’s NRL matches will be shown live on 9Gem nationally as indicated above.

Oh, now I see the 9gem designation for those games then.

Nine is going to have to do something about their team. Only Warren Smith or Andrew Voss are the two who have a ‘broadcaster’s voice’ (if you know what I mean) that Ch9 are looking for as the ‘voice of RL’ to take over from Rabs, and both are in still in their 40s. Matt Thompson is another one. Peter Psaltis is another caller that they could turn to, but remember he has QLD cup and 2SM commitments too. Joel Caine is a possibility too. And if Sterlo or Gus decides to retire, maybe Jamie Soward, Allana Ferguson or Scott Sattler could be used.

Warren Smith has signed with Nine, apparently this is common knowledge but not being promoted officially until the end of the season.

Fox could promote Jimmy Smith, or add someone from Crocmedia or 2GB.

Sterlo is retiring at the end of 2019 and will only be covering 1-2 games a week next year. Paul Gallen has a deal in place with Nine when he eventually retires.

Mat Thompson is calling tonight’s Sharks v Panthers final.

Which surprises me, as I thought Ray Warren would call both finals games this weekend since they are in Sydney.

Main channel coverage in Melbourne next Friday 21 September for the Melbourne Storm’s home preliminary final against Cronulla Sharks.

The Sunday Telegraph reports Nine has signed recently retired North Queensland star Johnathan Thurston to a long-term TV deal. It looks as though Mat Thompson will call Melbourne v cronulla match at AAMI Park while Ray Warren will do the Roosters v Rabbitohs game at Allianz.

We need a dislike button. I am not looking forward to the new era of commentators. Gallen can f##k right off.

I am a bit the opposite… It’s time the old stooges like Ray Warren and Peter Sterling were moved on anyway.
