Different campaign. Carrie’s campaign is different to what the Mark Hughes Foundation does, although it is for the same cause.
I take you are not a NRL fan, so I’ll fill you in - Mark Hughes is a former NRL player, a Newcastle Knights legend, who suffered from brain cancer a few years ago. IIRC, Paul Harragon did I’m A Celebrity for his foundation - they were team mates.

The alternative streams are probably designed to be used as a ‘2nd screen’ experience alongside the viewer watching the main broadcast on a TV

BEANIE FOR BRAIN CANCER ROUND RAISES $2.619 MILLION
In an amazing display of generosity, the rugby league community has rallied to raise $2,619,000 in the NRL’s Beanie for Brain Cancer Round for the Mark Hughes Foundation funding brain cancer research.
The result smashed the $2 million target and surpassed the $1.75 million raised in the inaugural round in 2017 by almost $870,000. The fundraising campaign will now continue this year, aiming to reach the $3 million mark.
All money raised during the Beanie for Brain Cancer Round goes directly to brain cancer research and patient support. The Mark Hughes Foundation will fund research projects jointly and in alignment with the National Brain Cancer Mission, with the aim of doubling survival rates and improving the quality of life for patients with brain cancer in the next 10 years.
The concept was the creation of former NRL Footy Show and Nine NRL Executive Producer, Matt Callander, who died from brain cancer in October 2017. Along with Mark Hughes, an NRL premiership winner with the Newcastle Knights, Matt established the foundation after being diagnosed in 2013.
Hughes said today: “The Mark Hughes Foundation is thrilled to announce that due to the amazing NRL community support we have raised an astonishing $2,619,000. I’m so proud that Matt Callander’s legacy lives on and we have achieved this with his wife Anne and family by our side.
“Special thanks to Todd Greenberg and his team from the NRL, Matt’s former employers, the Nine Network, who have worked tirelessly to put this together, and Fox Sports, who have gone above and beyond the call as have so many other forms of media across the country.
“Another highlight was Bill McDonald from McDonald Jones Homes giving up the naming rights of the Newcastle Knights stadium to allow it to be called Beanie for Brain Cancer Stadium for this round. There are so many great stories of support out there.
“I can’t thank the supporters enough, the heart and soul of this campaign. Without them purchasing a beanie this would not be the success it is. Finally, we thank the amazing players and coaches, the leaders of our game, whose commitment and support of our cause is overwhelming. We are so grateful.”
Sportsbet donated $60,000 to the cause after 41 tries were scored in Round 12, with $1000 for a try and $2000 for a try scored by a captain. Club captains Cameron Smith, Daly Cherry-Evans, Greg Inglis and Chris Lawrence all crossed the tryline while Valentine Holmes scored three tries and Jesse Ramien and Nick Cotric scored doubles.
The NRL Origin squads were announced recently. QLD Maroons captain Cameron Smith has announced his retirement from Origin and representative football. Greg Inglis replaced Cameron Smith as the next captain. Today, Billy Slater has announced that he will retire at the end of the Origin series.

Nine rugby league expert, Paul “Fatty” Vautin, says: “It’s nearly the last chance saloon for Manly. Desperation can bring out the best in any team, especially when it contains Daly Cherry-Evans and Marty ‘Kapow’ Taupau. Having them come up against the JT gang of Johnathan Thurston and Jason Taumalolo will make for a ripping game.”
On Friday Night Football, two sides in red-hot form will line up when the South Sydney Rabbitohs and Cronulla Sharks look to keep their winning streaks alive.
Speaking on Six Tackles with Gus, Nine rugby league expert, Phil Goud, said: “The Sharks have won six in a row and haven’t really suffered from Origin selection. A lot of their players were overlooked but are all fit and playing well.
“South Sydney have lost their captain Greg Inglis, Damien Cook, Angus Crichton and Dane Gagai, and although I’ve been a big fan of their playing style under coach Anthony Seibold, I think that the Sharks will be able to grind out a win in a low-scoring affair.”
Sunday Football pits the Sydney Roosters with Cooper Cronk behind the wheel against Benji Marshall’s Wests Tigers at Allianz Stadium. Dragons playmaker Gareth Widdop joins the pre-game panel ahead of a big afternoon of footy on Wide World of Sports.
Ryan Girdler from The Footy Show said: “For the Roosters, I think the disruption of losing four quality players means they will struggle for combinations on short notice and that will be too much to overcome on Sunday.
“Latrell Mitchell is the Roosters’ go-to man in attack when they need points, while upfront Dylan Napa will be sorely missed for the aggressive role he plays in the opening exchanges.
“The Tigers will be solid in defence as they have been all year, and if they want to play finals football Origin period is the chance to consolidate their place in the top eight. They haven’t been affected at all by Origin team selection.”

I’m sure this has been covered before but yes, Nine usually has crosses to SportsBet in it’s rugby league coverage but of course those can’t be shown in SA due to the gambling advertising restrictions in that state.
