NRL coverage

That conflicts with Nine’s media release about 2GB - possibly comparing different timeslots?

I’d suggest Daily Telegraph is comparing just the game calls and not the chatter before and after, while Nine’s press release shows the full timeslot which is two thirds chatter and only one third game call.

It has been known for many years that, for CCT at least, the chatter rates better than the game calls.

If my suggestion is correct, it’s remarkable considering Triple M has the supposedly not as good game on Sunday at 2pm and Nine gets the better 4pm game. Nine supposedly wanted the 4pm game in this rights agreement as it’s the “premium” game and to align their TV and radio assets, but maybe it was more about having a longer block of chatter before 4pm rather than competing with NRL on FTA TV with a block of chatter after 4pm.

If it’s written by Phil Rothfield he’s probably trying to paint a picture that the place is falling apart since Ray Hadley left.

Buzz needs to join Ray in “retirement”.

Something I found pretty funny,
Triple M are taking a minibus down to Canberra and uploaded a video of a preview of what’s to come on instagram, they panned the phone around and nobody was wearing seatbelts, they deleted it and uploaded a preview again, must’ve been flooded with comments.

Be good to see them all do this. I used the SEN one the other week.

Triple M Melbourne will broadcast Storm v Sharks preliminary final on Friday night.

Wondering why Ben Dobbin called the Storm/Bulldogs final for MMM rather than Dan Ginnane, was Dan doing that match for Fox? Dobbin also did Sharks-Roosters as well (i assume from the studio or maybe he was at Shark Park)

Dan Ginnane did do the Storm vs Bulldogs qualifying final a few weeks ago, Dobbondid the pre match coverage. The game was broadcasted live from AAMI Park.

Dobbo then did the Sharks vs Roosters game froM The studio in Sydney before getting on the Triple M hired bus to Canberra on the Sunday where they did the Sunday sin bin.

Quentin Hull called both preliminary finals this week for ABC Radio.

I heard him saying he’s doing the GF in today’s coverage. Hopefully Andrew Moore will be back fresh for next years NRL coverage (and at some stage later in the year for cricket).

I’d love to hear Andrew Moore back but only when he’s good and ready. Heart attacks are something you do not fuck around with. He’s stated as much and he knows what he has to do. He’ll be back when he is good and ready.

Ultimate guide to NRL Grand Final week: SEN goes all in

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) is set to deliver its biggest ever NRL Grand Final week, highlighted by three simultaneous calls of the weekend’s show piece event – the 2025 NRL Telstra Premiership - between the Melbourne Storm and Brisbane Broncos.

This Sunday more than 60 radio stations will receive one of three tailored calls for each market. SEN League’s call team will reach NSW audiences, while Broncos Radio will be broadcast across metro and regional Queensland.

And Storm Radio returns for Victorian audiences.

All three calls will be available on the SEN app and via SEN Stadium in venue, allowing an unprecedented, choose-your-own-experience for League fans. Fans at home can also pair the audio to their chosen TV experience via SEN Sync.

The calls cap off 13 hours of live content this Grand Final Sunday.

SEN League will feature Joel Caine, Brett Kimmorley and Scott Sattler; Broncos Radio will consist of Corey Parker, Andrew McCullough and Mark Braybrook; and Storm Radio will be led by call with Jordan Kounelis and Robbie Kearns.

Kicking off Grand Final day, SEN will be hosting Grand Final Countdown with Ben Davis and Jarrod Wallace from 9am AEDT. The party continues from midday at Accor Stadium in Homebush, with NRL Crunch Time, hosted by Corey Parker, Tim Mannah and Jimmy Smith.

Smith will then be joined by Mary Konstantopoulos and Brett Kimmorley for the call of the NRLW Grand Final from 3.50pm - can the Sydney Roosters win their second straight title, or will the Brisbane Broncos play spoilers?

In the lead up to Sunday’s main event, SEN will be broadcasting live from the heart of Sydney and bringing fans closer to the action with over 30 hours of live content, exclusive commentary and special guests.

It all kicks off with NRL Fan Fest at the Overseas Passenger Terminal in The Rocks, with six hours of live SEN broadcasts on both Thursday 2 October and Friday 3 October between 9am and 3pm, plus the opportunity to win a limited-edition SEN League hat for those who attend.

On Thursday Julian King, Blake Austin, Jimmy Smith and Brett Kimmorley will be on site, and on Friday fans will get the chance to mingle with Matty Johns, Denan Kemp, Hammy Goodman, Joel Caine and Tim Mannah.

On Saturday, NRL Crunch Time will cover all the late breaking Grand Final news with Sean Ormerod and Blake Austin at the helm from 12pm to 3pm.

ABC commentator Andrew Moore to miss first decider in 20 years

ABC broadcaster Andrew Moore says he is eyeing a comeback to the commentary box later this year as he misses his first grand final in almost two decades.

Moore suffered a life threatening heart attack in August and is on the recovery trail as he prepares to watch the premiership decider from home.

“I am recovering slowly but well,” Moore said. “I feel really good. I am getting stronger and constantly going back to the hospital and GP for checks and everyone feels happy.

“It is very weird not being at the game. I was getting a lot of messages on Sunday morning asking if I am OK. It is weird but I am fine with it.

“Watching the game is strange. It is the first grand final I haven’t been at in 20 years and I have called 15 of the past 16. It is no doubt strange but I am alright with it.”

“I am hoping to return in a couple of weeks,” Moore said. “That will depend on getting an official medical clearance and from there I am targeting the start of the Pacific Championships or an Ashes Test or two (from the studio).

Emma Lawrence will be doing some Play by play calling on Triple M in 2026.
Most likely to lighten the load on the 2 Sydney based callers in Dan Ginnane and Anthony Maroon.

Probably those early season Sunday 6PM kickoffs

I reckon so, It’s been Ben Dobbin or Elliott Lovejoy this year doing that time slot.
With Dobbo doing the Sunday show and Elliott doing 5 days on the Rush Hour it’ll lighten the load having the extra caller there. Plus it’ll be great having a female pbp caller.
