Yes, but that changed when Triple M started doing FNF matches. Cause i remember listening to a Bulldogs-Tigers match on the ABC stream in 2015, and it was delayed on 9 in both NSW and QLD since Eels-Rabbitohs was the live match.

You used to be able to stream them online (dodgy website) it was quite funny if it was the delayed game because they’d have no half time report or anything, just straight back into the game when the ball was kicked.

Wayne Bennett bans Triple M over tacky comedy skit on Brisbane radio
Rugby league’s greatest coach has banned the NRL’s broadcast rights holders after his ex-wife Trish and current partner Dale Tynan were mentioned as part of a comedy skit which exploded on Brisbane breakfast radio.
Bennett’s marriage breakdown to Trish and Tynan’s breast size were raised.
The network has apologised to Bennett - privately and publicly - but that hasn’t stopped the Souths coach refusing to do pre or post-game interviews with Triple M for this week’s Broncos clash at Suncorp Stadium.
I wonder if the ABC still calls all games per week, but do they still air norma programming in NSW on Thursdays because MMM airs it in Syndey, or do all games air in Syndey on 2BL?
The ABC still calls all NRL games each week. However, the Thursday night coverage varies in Sydney metro depending on if that match is played in the city.
For example, according to ABC Help website, Eels v Storm last night was broadcast live in regional NSW while normal programming continued on 702 Sydney.
Next Thursday night, Storm v Broncos will be heard across NSW including Sydney.
Ben Dobbin will be calling Warriors vs Drsgons live from Mt Smart on Friday night for Triple M. Not sure the reason behind it or who will be with him. Will find out the team at some point today.
Edit: Just has Wade Graham listed presumably from the Sydney studio.

Brett Sprigg filled in for Andrew tonight for Panthers v Storm. I expect Brett will call a match per day this round (Friday night, Saturday and Sunday) for ABC Radio.

Heart attacks aren’t something you mess around with. I’ve had a mild one, enough to have a stent put in. You take it easy for a while.

He’s a great caller of rugby league and I enjoy listening, the show especially on a Sunday is a good laugh.
I hope that he has a speedy recovery and that he takes it a bit easier because he seems to be on the radio all year round.

The ABC is battling a commentator shortage following Andrew Moore’s heart attack. As a result, the Canberra based Tim Gavel has been assigned Sunday’s Knights v Broncos match in Newcastle. This is a surprise considering the great Craig ‘Hammo’ Hamilton lives in Newcastle and could have made a comeback as a one-off to save costs and help out. Instead, taxpayers will be left to pick up the airfares and hire-car expenses for Gavel’s return trip to the
Hunter.
