Hallelujah! Hes saved the game! Quick, someone send him a Knights jersey.

Monitoring the calling off screens. MMM, 4BC and ABC calls are all slightly ahead of the Nine digital TV signal.

So Cranky

I’d expect Brett Sprigg, Matthew Elliott and Kiana Takairangi (Sharks NRLW player) to call matches in NSW that Andrew Moore, Luke Lewis and John Gibbs don’t do this season. Just sub in Richard Svenson or Quentin Hull on occasion.

With no AFL to cover due to the AFL season opener being postponed, the SEN stations you’d normally expect to carry AFL and rarely to carry NRL (Victoria, SA, WA, NT) are all taking tonight’s Roosters V Broncos NRL match.

SEN gearing up for comprehensive coverage of NRL’s Magic Round

Sports Entertainment Network (SEN) is thrilled to confirm its extensive coverage of the NRL’s Magic Round, ensuring fans across Australia can experience the excitement of this unique event.

In 2025, Magic Round - a highlight of the NRL calendar since its inception in 2019 - will again take place at the home of rugby league in Queensland – Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium - from May 1 to 4, encompassing all matches of Round 9 of the NRL, plus the opening game of this year’s Women’s State of Origin series.

Magic Round 2025 promises to be an unforgettable festival of rugby league, featuring 16 of the 17 NRL teams competing in a single venue over one action-packed weekend.

SEN’s coverage of the event kicks off on Thursday, May 1, with Women’s State of Origin Game 1, followed by live calls of five NRL matches from Friday to Sunday - including a Broncos Radio biased call – on top of a host of other NRL programming, headlined by the new SEN / Fox Sports simulcast of ‘Saturday League Kick Off’ with Scott Sattler and Andrew Webster. Available to be broadcast both on radio and television, the show is live every Saturday of the NRL season from 10am.

As usual, SEN’s Magic Round programming will feature a host of names synonymous with rugby league, including Scott Sattler, Corey Parker, Andrew McCullough, Tim Mannah, Jarrod Wallace, Gary Freeman and Andrew Webster, plus Michelle Bishop, Ben Davis, Mark Braybrook, Jo Barrett and Drury Forbes.

As a part of SEN’s commitment to making Magic Round as accessible as possible for fans - particularly those who can’t be there in person – SEN’s coverage can be broadcast via Brisbane’s SENQ 693am and Sydney’s SEN 1170am, as well as a host of other SEN frequencies.

All SEN-broadcast matches will also be available on SEN Sync and SEN Stadium – two products unique to SEN – to enhance listeners’ experiences both at home and in-venue.

SEN CEO, Craig Hutchison, expressed his excitement for the upcoming festival of rugby league.

“We are incredibly proud of the line-up of talent and programming we have put together to cover the 2025 NRL season, and in particular, this weekend’s Magic Round. At SEN, we aim to continuously innovate and provide the best possible experience for our listeners, maintaining our commitment to delivering high-quality products covering the NRL across the board.”

Mark Levy’s 1st Origin call tonight and he is sounding mighty fine. Following in the giant footsteps of the great man Raaaaay Hadley who called 99 of 'em. Like many i thought 2GB might coax Bolts back for his 100th but listening now to Levy, they have the new heir apparent totally in his element.

SEN will again provide three game calls for State of Origin game 2 tonight. Blues Radio (NSW/ACT) will broadcast live from Winghaus Entertainment Quarter in Sydney’s Moore Park, while Maroons Radio (QLD) will broadcast live from Winghaus in Bowen Hills in Brisbane. Other regions will get the national call.

Also according to this LiSTNR schedule, Triple M Perth will get the Origin Rumble preview show but not the game call.

UPDATE: 6PR is taking 2GB’s Continuous Call coverage of SOO from 6pm local time (8pm AEST).

Wow. Have 6PR ever taken any sporting call from 2GB?

I know they take Money News and the occasional Federal Election coverage… but this?

6PR might have taken 2GB’s call during last year’s Paris Olympics?

The Sunday Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield writes in his column today that the ABC has reduced its radio coverage of the NRLW season. When he asked the ABC for an explanation, this is what he got:

“Our coverage of NRLW factors in available resourcing and our other contractual obligations,” a spokesperson said.

“ABC sport will continue to cover select NRLW matches in 2025, including the finals and grand final.”

While it broadcast a match every weekend in 2024, this year it is only covering a Thursday night game every week (according to ABC Help page).

Thanks - there’s only a few rounds with Thursday night games.

Maybe a community station can fill the void? Or SEN? Or 2GB? or NTS? or BarTV?

New this year is the Origin Series Wrap Show.

Immediately following full-time, SEN will present a special ‘2025 Origin Series Wrap’ show, running through until 11pm (AEST) and streamed visually via the SEN app. Hosted by the Origin LIVE team, the wrap will dissect the series and highlight the key moments from all three games.
