The Joel Creasey Show starts April 20th from 1 - 2PM. A 1 hour show, does that mean that he’ll also stay on Perth Breakfast with Nat & Shaun?
The video includes a chat with Ricki-Lee and Tim Blackwell at Nova 969 studios following the breakfast show.
According to the clock on the control computer, the chat was filmed on a Tuesday in February this year.
Correct. Ricki-Lee and Tim talked about it on air that day.
Why does it require a new studio?
The Breakfast team and the Drive team swapped studios and offices in Sydney when they swapped shifts.

He means how this article mentions Joel’s show is going to be broadcast from a new studio.
I am wondering if Nova are building him a home studio? Would make it easier for him to do his Perth breakfast and new lunch time show commitments while also doing standup at night if he was able to broadcast from his house…
Maybe they needed more studio space in Melbourne. They often have concurrent shows broadcasting at the same time and they need space to be able to prerecord stuff too and host other presenters when they’revisiting.
Joel is broadcasting in Perth at the same time as Melbourne Breakfast and Mel Tracina doing Mornings. Plus Chrissie Swan starts her show right after Joel so they probably want to be foing those from different studios.
They probably need a studio that doesn’t have windows then, so you can’t tell he’s not in Perth?

Incorrect show name in the article, however, I would say Mitch was no longer needed due to Nick being able to anchor and host now.
Tim Blackwell will have to wait until December 18 to fight the interim ADVO application.

Today, The Joel Creasey Show debuts nationally on Nova in the 1pm slot, the final piece in the network’s weekday jigsaw for 2026.
Hosting solo is also a new endeavour for Creasey. He reasons his decades of stand-up, which he dubs “a solo sport”, will help him make a smooth transition. A new studio has been built for his show in Nova’s Melbourne headquarters, which was still covered in construction tape when he spoke to Mumbrella a few days before launch. The production team will be remotely operating the desk, making it a truly solo presenting environment. In Creasey’s previous drivetime slot, Tim Blackwell drove the desk.
He won’t get too lonely in the studio though. “I’m going to have some great guests, regular contributors. It’s one of those things: we’ve built the studio, but I guess building the sound is only going to happen with an audience. So, how the show sounds is going to be very dictated by the listeners.
“I’m fine with that, because as a stand-up comic, you have to become a bit of a chameleon to dig into different boxes and categories.”
Lest that sound a little unprepared, Creasey assures me that he’s been in pre-production for the last four months, coming up with segment ideas and fine-tuning what the show might look like. “I have been in the building basically every day. They can’t get rid of me.”
Turns out this is a lounge style studio designed for more comfortable and intimate chats with guests. Based on the Mumbrella article above, it will still be controlled from a regular on air studio.
