Australian Open 2023 broadcast schedule: Day 8

DE MINAUR V DJOKOVIC IN NIGHT SESSION FROM 7.00PM

The Demon and the Djoker are ready to face off on Rod Laver Arena tonight, where they’ll light up the night session on Day 8 of the 2023 Australian Open, live and free on Channel 9HD, from 7.00pm.

Australia’s sole remaining hope in the singles draw, Alex de Minaur, gets his shot at taking down a Goliath of world tennis in nine-time Australian Open champion and Men’s Singles favourite, Novak Djokovic.

De Minaur will need to draw on every ounce of home support as the 23-year-old, currently ranked No.24 in the world, looks to make the Australian Open finals for the first time in his career.

Djokovic has been nursing a hamstring injury but history suggests it would be foolish to write off the Serbian, who has one eye on his 22nd Grand Slam victory where he’d join Rafael Nadal at the top of the all time list.

At least he made it this far - he’ll be one to watch in the next few years. But yes it’ll be over soon.

At least the doubles match next on RLA won’t start after 10:30pm lol

When the primetime match finishes, Nine always goes to an ad break. Then goes to the courtside interview. The interview should be airing live.

Absolutely - Nine doing that completely sucks the life out of the moment.

His first grand slam

Great photo which shows where the old temp studios used to be located, now that area is used for the beach house area (and as always a car park outside of AO season)

It used to be this studio in the early 2000s, which IMO was better, they sort of went backwards in dropping some of the set/features for a smaller and more generic desk and window back-drop. I think it changed in 2006, which remained (with tweaks) until their last in 2018. It was in a ‘container’ in the old make-shift broadcast compound (production/control rooms were below) above the Garden Square entry, which I discovered the other day as you say is now a kids thing. There’s now a brand new ‘media centre’ opposite KIA Arena where a lot of the works/new pavement took place, where I think overseas studios and all the host and domestic production etc now takes place, also the VIP set-up and exclusive restaurants in that building. I think some media base on the players balcony in the new Rod Laver Arena annex too, such as 9Gem’s host position and saw other autocues and cameras and desks set up there.
