Who’s the announcer filling in for Michael McLaren right now on 2GB?
*UPDATE: It was Trevor Long. My goodness he needs work.

Peter Fegan starts on Monday. I wont be listening to him for sure
It was an unfortunate day for a final broadcast. The rest of Brisbane radio was talking about the AFL GF while they were talking about themselves
No employment on another station yet either. They can start sleeping in now ,no more early starts
Breakfast Radio hosts Laurel, Gary and Mark have signed off in an emotional last day on air at 4BC.

The trio thanking their listeners, one has even revealed his surprising plan for next week without an early morning alarm. @EbonyCavallaro #9News pic.twitter.com/iyLNbGYZ4w
Andrew made it very clear tonight that Peter Fegan was only covering Breakfast for the rest of the year.
Interesting. Do they have someone else ready for 2025 or just saying this in case Peter rates well?
Tonight 3AW had a special broadcast of NRL preliminary final between the Storm and the Roosters, relaying 2GB’s coverage. However, the NRL broadcast ended on 3AW soon after the final whistle, and it was straight to Denis Walter’s nights after an ad break.
That’s fairly standard when NRL is heard in southern states or when AFL is heard in the north. ABC and Triple M do similar and don’t bother airing pre and post match coverage in those markets.
Something similar today for 2GB and 4BC, with The Continuous Call Team dipping in and out of 3AW’s coverage.
Update: Mark Levy threw to commentary after the national anthem.
I’ve never heard a full call of AFL on 2GB ever.
Not sure Ray Hadley or the NRL would be too happy with this decision.
NRL isn’t on until 7:50pm - they’ve got nothing else to air during the afternoon, and they still did the Continuous Call stuff before the game.
NRL may not like it, but there is a growing support for the AFL in the Northern States for quite sometime - it makes sense for them to carry the game if they’ve got nothing better to show, and it helps Nine justify the money it spends on the coverage and rights.
And since no one else has mentioned it, Sydney are in the grand final. It’s not like they’re airing Port v Fremantle or something
I know not everyone likes him but it was great to see a proper news breakfast show on a news radio station with Peter Fegan this morning.
I would be surprised if he isn’t signed on permanently. Massive Ben Fordham vibes.
Any classic hits/music still being heard on 4BC?
Not that I’ve heard.
Nine Radio’s head of content, Greg Byrnes says off the back of a string of departures seen at 4BC in the last month, including Laurel, Gary and Mark in Breakfast and Peter Gleeson in Drive, the station will be returning to something “audiences clearly want”.
“I think it’d be safe to say that we’re returning more to news and opinion [at 4BC],” he told Mediaweek following the release of the sixth radio ratings survey of the year.
Simon Owens’ east coast evenings show starts this evening.
With daylight savings starting in NSW and Victoria this weekend, does it mean his show will be broadcast live on 4BC after the 5pm news, or will 4BC lose the entire first hour?
Isn’t it refreshing for the first time in a long time not to have to hear about how 4BC will balance the time difference for its shows during Daylight Saving.
Well done to Nine Radio for keeping it local.
How will John Stanley and overnights work?
