Is the worst yet. Such an unappealing shot for television. Would they put that on a tourist website?

Honestly, who would have thought that they’d have a set that is worse then what WIN use in the area.
Changes look good, but there is no point having an OTS graphic if it doesn’t change from story to story.
The new Canberra backdrop is great! That’s what they needed, now just get rid of the fake plasma with 9NEWS Canberra on it and use that space for images for the stories and it’ll look good!
Nine needs to do this for their regional bulletins. Have a (good) local backdrop with the Nine News logo on top, then have story-specific OTS.
I think they should centre Vanessa up and then move her to the side of OTS stories. Can’t be that hard.

Have spent some time fixing this set before they rushed this change to air. It all
Just looks so bad. The bad background shots (Canberra is great, the other three bad) the awkward floating plasma. And the two shot is beyond bad.
If nine has crews in these cities - why can’t they send them out to film a loop at 6pm of some scenic local backsdrops so there is movement - rather than these freeze frame shots.
Open wide show the city skyline or local backdrop for first story. So you can establish the local news.
Then by story two - zoom In a little tighter and instead of having that awful fake floating plasma - have a graphically designed OTS animating gently from the side of the screen

Correct me if I’m wrong, but last night was the last NSW bulletin to launch, right? If so, perhaps the team decided to focus on just launching all the bulletins and are now working on tweaking them. A Case of setting up a base before improving the product maybe?
Yeah, the Riverina bulletin was the last of the Southern NSW/ACT bulletins to launch. Next week it’s Victoria’s turn, starting with Ballarat/Western Victoria.
The way Nine’s SNSW/ACT news presenters is set out is fairly interesting (everyone is from out-of-the-town). Vanessa and Mike Lorigan are both based in Sydney, while Gavin Morris is based in Newcastle to present the news for Canberra, Illawara, Central West and Riverina, yet these people are not presenting in their respective regions (although Gavin does present NBN weather). It’s quite intriguing.
Huh? Gavin Morris presents NBN News’ Weather segment broadcast into Newcastle and as far north as the Gold Coast.
Umm…that’s the old (2012-16) ACA set, which was located in Studio 22.

Yes but he also presents weather on the Sthn NSW editions of 9News, as was said:
Nine “News” Canberra had a story about a motorcycle rider who collided with a street sign on the Kings Highway just on the edge of Queanbeyan, the story stated the accident happened “yesterday”, Monday. I saw the aftermath of the accident which happened late afternoon on Sunday, so I immediately knew Nine got the day wrong. That’s one problem with running a local news from a remote location, it’s easy to lose the local knowledge and get simple facts wrong.

Is this is what Mr ‘Why would we do that’ 9News director of regional news thinks is bringing competition to WIN & Prime7 news?
