If they put Tony Jones up, they may as well hand 7 the #1 position. Jo Hall might work, everyone knows her and liked her for years on weekends and over summer. Personally, I hope Peter signs another 5 year contract, he is in great shape, no reason to stop as he seems to love working.

@TVHead l hope Peter will extend his current contract with Nine,he loves his job and regards his colleagues as family. He keeps himself in good health and health permitting wouldnât surprise me that he will continue in his role for as long as possible.

I think the chat about Rebecca Madern is laughable. She is a very capable journalist and for that reason if she wanted to work in news, she would have done it when she left 7, not go into the Footy Show and whatever else. She left news for a reason.

Rebecca Maddern was always chosen as the 3rd choice newsreader behind Peter Mitchell and Jennifer Keyte. She was definitely being groomed for the anchor role down the track if she wanted it.

But she was the main fill in for Melbourne for several years.
After 13 years at Seven, Rebecca should have had her own news program (Even if it was broadcast out of Melbourne). She was taken off the National Afternoon news twice, in 2006 and 2013. And as for her being the main fill for Seven News Melbourne, well it became clear that Seven had pushed her aside for Nick Etchells and Jacqueline Felgate.
